So Forbes magazine have released the latest list of the world's best-paid comedians......While we could argue about the quality on this list....Feminists and the BBC (as if there's a difference) have noted the lack of women on the list.

I'm reminded me of the late great Christopher Hitchens and his article for Vanity Fair called, 'Why Women Aren't Funny'.

It was mostly tongue in cheek of course because there are funny women, but the points Hitchens makes are all true for the general population.....In general most women just don't have the same biological requirement.

Of course there will be the soy boys who fall over themselves laughing at Miranda Hart....but less said about them the better.

What is silly about that article is the implied assumption that women are not getting the breaks. However comedians make their money from a number of sources not from a single source. TV is a big one but so our tours and dvd's and books etc. Some comedians book and fill the 02 others can barely raise a crowd at Up the Creek (comedy club).

So if anyone is not making enough money its because either the public don't find them funny or they have a bad publicist and a bad agent either way its down to them.
