So after getting diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in january.
Within the year my youngest son only 19 has now been told he is celiac.
Ffs how f***ing not fair.
Anyhow the best we can do we will do and are going to join him with some gluten free foods on our diet.
This will help with cross contamination and might do us some good as well.
Emotion out of the way my request is any links to on line food suppliers which might be a bit cheaper than the high street.
It is quite dear and any savings would be a bonus.

Tesco do a good range of foods in their 'Free From' range - and it seems to be an ever-expanding section too.

good morning Cryst,
my niece has had this for many years now & unfortunately can get very ill if she (or somebody else) makes an error.
I made her ill once cooking a steak, I foolishly cut it with a knife that had mustard on it from the other steaks.

The good news is a lot of foods are actually cheaper to make Glutten free, so there is now a decent choice, for example the sausages are excellent, however the bread so far, is rotten & expensive.

One of my daughters works for wairose, they have a good glutten free section plus a lot of the foods in the regular isles are also labelled free.
Good luck with the revised diet mate.

Their burgers are surprisingly very good. I can’t get used to soya mince in bolognese sauce, but then I don’t use sauces in jars and only use tomato, garlic, olive oil and simmer for 90 minutes when using top supermarket range mince for flavour. Soya is alright for chile or actually any kind of spicy meal. Curry, Tagine, anything really.

It’s the treats in gluten free sections that are expensive. With bread, I’d freeze it to save some money. Freeze half a loaf or however it works for yourselves.

I don't think there's gluten in meat and veg - so normal ragu should not be a problem.

Just saying. I wouldn’t touch a sauce jar for anything.

I agree with you about the sausages and I suppose that you can always make your own bread

yes, a lot less fatty.
I'd got to a stage a few years ago where sausages would be off the menu as it always resulted in misery.
seems ok now in general.

TBH he showed no symptons so we are still a bit up in the air.
He was putting on weight pooing normally no cramps nothing but he had an antibody reading above 200 and normal is less than 7 and the endoscopy showed no issues. Strange really.
FUBAR at the moment.
Cross contamination in small amounts may not do much damage on the surface but inside him it could so we will be as careful as possible.
Onwards and upwards and thanks all of you for your positive input.

I'd buy a couple of prep/chopping boards & keep 'em only for his use.
