I've been a member here since 2005.. The vast majority I think, on here know that I'm old bill... Some may remember about 2 and a half years ago I had a very bad car accident, which after 6 weeks in hospital and 5 operations later has left me unable to ever run again... Well yesterday I was informed by the Metropolitan Police that after 18 years service they are going to medically retire me with my last working day being the 4th January 2019... I'm 40 and have no f***ing idea what to do!!... Can anyone give me a job???!!

Can't they just transfer you to the moped ramming squad Not being able to run hasn't stopped out strikers being employed there is still hope for you. I hope you find something quickly. Thank you people... One thing I don't want to do is shift work... I've just done 18 years of earlys, later and nights!! I also want a clean break from any thing remotely to do with the government or law enforcement. I've done 18 years of public service... I'm done with the public sector!!

I take it you can walk just not run? If so maybe do some part time security work just to keep active. I take it you wasn't offered any other role due to your pay level so it's easier for them to just retire you based on medical grounds?

I'm at the top of the pay scale for a PC on 40k a year... They can get shot of me and get a newbie in on £19k a year... All about saving money.
