Not a fan of Raheem Sterling, but great credit to him for helping highlight the campaign for a donor to help Damary Dawkins. Good to see a positive football story in the press.

Massive fair play to him calling out the ridiculous treatment he gets after what happened yesterday. Takes balls, that.

Clear enough images of all 3 of them so a lifetime ban would be the ideal solution

I’m wondering whether this is trying to gain an advantage by sledging but then I look at the blokes doing it, and then I think because they look a bit simple they don’t have much intelligence and sink to the lowest common denominator.

I’m not excusing it but I think it’s sometimes sledging using unacceptable subject matter, or it’s maybe hidden racism that exists in some certain social circles that’s no surprise to people who aren’t 100% sheltered. Some pub conversations or self employment industries or very small businesses owned by someone who can’t help himself with the odd bit of casual racism. Possibly not hatred, even in the football clip, even if it appears so, but definitely ugly and wholly unacceptable.

I also think the way black teenagers have tried to distance themselves from everyone else has been a factor in this. Bad attitudes, changing accents from the accent of the area to the manufactured accent that doesn’t originate from anywhere at all. Ethnic minorities have been here for decades, more and more over time there are equal opportunities, acceptance from the less accepting and ignorant but then black teenagers want to distance themselves again by sounding different from everyone else, by choice as well.

The thing about the reporting of black players’ high spending being critical compared to white players maybe because sometimes black players make their spending so much more obvious. You only need to look at a Mosschino top that young black men often go for compared to other designer clothes. Think the Nigerian kit that was supposed to be great fashion. Really?

My own personal view is that most footballers are to be ignored off the pitch and if you think you can find other things to sledge a footballer but I’m just putting this out here because I think these are factors.

Yes. I’ll probably get abuse from the expected for my post questioning why but regardless it’s ugly and unacceptable so thanks but no thanks. Take your behaviour back to your home, but that questions why they’re doing it again.

Or, it’s 50 something’s at Chelsea, what do you expect? I doubt it’ll stop the huge following from African men. Relegation would, and we’d love that.

It’s a bit odd the black Chelsea steward is smiling through the whole thing.

Gary Linekar stopped the normal football commentary, paused, frowned studiously and seemed to make it clear that the blokes who chanted something hateful at a football match will be sent to Guantanamo to get waterboarded and they will never again feel safe walking down the street.

the BBC love opportunities to enjoy the moral high-ground. If you call Eric C..ntona a french c...nt , does that make you prejudiced or is it allowed cos he is french and is a c...nt ?

it is to be expected that we abuse brighton/charlton/millwall and that they abuse us back. And if the call McArthur a pejorative term for scottish people are we going to go off and cry to the United Nations ?

Which is worse for Zaha, the angry words or the angry tackles he receives every week ?

For the record : i condemn racism of all types. Chelsea are a scummy club with loads of nasty fans and none of this is a surprise. So lets deduct 2 or 3 points from them in the League.

Lip readers are actually at odds as to whether the culprit called Sterling 'a Manc c...' or a black one, which is not surprising as even skilled lip readers can misunderstand. However.......

When you see the photos of Block B when the opposition are taking a corner there, just how different do they look from that Chelsea photo?

I know they are not shouting racist abuse at SP, but there's not that much difference in their facial expressions and gesticulations either.

Sterling himself confirmed what they said.
