Anyone know any decent martial clubs in and around the Croydon area at an affordable price?

Was thinking of taking up Taekwondo but was wondering if anyone else could help.

I've become bored of the gym and want to learn a martial art and stay fit at the same time.

Thanks guys and gals.

I've always fancied Aikido, what Steven Seagal does. It's all based on defence

Or there’s fight clubs dotted around you can fight in the ring. Was thinking about it myself but didn’t fancy future brain damage from uncontrolled boxing. There’s some pretty tough east Europeans in these so it’ll take a little while to get to their level and you’d take a lot of head blows before and after you get to their level.

There is apparently a good kung fu school here.

To help you choose what it right for you, you might want to think about what you want out of it and how suitable it is for your age and physical condition

After the initial outrage of being suggested by a mutli discipline black belt I give it a try, I have taken up Tai Chi - the hippy’s martial art.

Croydon Judo Club. World class facilities. Good teachers. Friendly atmosphere and a pint in the pub after training. Very safe compared to many fight-clubs. Very practical and useful for the real world.

a tough and vigorous workout.

non profit making and excellent value for money.

full of Eagles.

I did Wing Chun at this school for three years and really enjoyed it - it's in Beckenham. Training was very hard and I initially joined for the same reason as you:

I joined this place in South Croydon for a few months but packed it in as I've got two young kids and no time to train properly. There's was nothing wrong with the school - just the wrong time for me.

Both comparable to gym membership prices but with martial arts you get what you pay for. Cheap instructors aren't usually very good.
