I just don't think we look a threat from corners or free kicks into the box. Previously this has been an area of strength for Palace. Also in the last 3 games the pivotal goals have come about due to defensive errors when defending set pieces.
Benteke's absence means our number 1 target is missing so this should improve when he returns. It also means the oppositions taller defenders really only have to worry about Tomkins and perhaps Kouyate. I would also like to see Milivojevic positioned around the edge of the box to compete for the second balls that are sometime cleared there.To often Townsend is trying to compete and is either out jumped or muscled. Perhaps Townsend or PVA could then take the corners though PVA is often needed as the cover player in case of a fast break.
Until we get Benteke back what about a bit of variety - what about a low corner to edge of the box. If i know we are going to float a high lob into the edge of the 6 yard box for Tomkins to try and head back across then so do the opposition.
Would love to have a Sigurdsson in our squad who can properly deliver a corner.

We used to be set piece masters. I remember when they would pur about our routines on MOTD.
To be honest, attacking corners is probably where we miss Scott Dann the most,because after all, he's a goal machine.

We are vulnerable defending set pieces, and totally lacking any threat when attacking them. The delivery is usually awful from corners, and every free kick is floated to Tomkins at the back post - entirely predictable.

We really are rubbish from set pieces. The only threat we have is Tomkins. Why is Sakho so ineffective too? literally does not get near anything.. Oh for the days when Dann used to get on the end of everything

I have to believe if Benteke was playing we would also be defending them a lot better.

He certainly is crap at scoring goals but he does some other things well.

If he was anywhere near that second ball for the spurs goal he wouldn’t just stand and watch it like Ayew did.

We used to be very strong in this department under Pulis but it’s been downhill since then.
