Look closely at the refs expressions he pulled a disapointed face and dropped his head knowing he had to book him unfortunatly rules of the game I'm sure he nor the team are bothered about 1 yellow

Totally disagree. Had he turned a blind eye and not booked him people would be talking about inconsistency of referees. It's not down to him to decide when to apply the rules and when not to, the laws are pretty clear on this one. He made the right call 100%. It's a total lose lose situation for the ref

After the game, Claude came out and said that the Leicester players were professionals and that they would expect the referee to be the same. If he hadn't done his job, in a professional manner, as he did do, he would have been slated the same way.

I would have thought it fairly obvious of the circumstances with LCFC in the past week and it not need to be pointed out by an official Is it too much for common sense to prevail?

The referee has to follow the rules, it's his job. No blame attached. What would have been good is if they could have discussed with him prior to the match and had someone announce the Ref had to or have the player gesture to the fans not to boo etc. It's little things. The ref was caught between a rock and a hard place. The FA couldn't have cleared this in time and would have looked arrogant had Leicester inquired about a rule-change for something that might not happen - scoring a goal. They could have helped out the Ref massively here. He has to give it, they should all of defended him immediately.

Quite the opposite, he's got a job to do and he isn't allowed to change the rules for anything. The FA should rescinded the yellow, but Lee Probert is just doing his job.

Not a hope in hells chance, im afraid. Common sense for Refs went out the window the day the EPL was born & SKY changed everything. Don't get me wrong I totally agree with you & others on this, BUT, the law makers of FIFA(not the FA) deem things otherwise. Sad, but, true
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
