Not good news, Zaha’s just been withdrawn from the Ivory Coast squad due to an Adductor injury, apparently it takes about a month to recover! We’re doomed...

If out for a month he will miss the following games, Everton (a), Arsenal (h), Middlesbrough (a), Chelsea (a), Tottenham (h). Other than middlesboro game, I don't fancy us in any of the games. With Zaha injured it's doubtful we will get anything. Granted the upcoming fixtures possibly not a better time for him to be united. Would rather him available for the lower mid table teams Edited by bexleydave (17 Oct 2018 7.22am)

Wilf´s genius is a luxury, cannot be counted on to be in permanent mode. The "first eleven" need not, and should not, be expected to have to rely on his being on the pitch for the team to have any chance of success. So I don´t agree we are done for because of Wilf´s reported imminent absence, whilst being of the opinion that the OP may well have astutely raised an issue for ongoing debate. That said, if the OP is serious, or even right, then we can already be said to be even more in a relegation scrap, meaning we are Championship material, which neither correct nor appropriate. It would be unwise to consider Wilf, as much as he provides us supporters with enjoyment, filling us with glee with his prime performances, to be critical to our success/survival, because he won´t necessarily always be there or on top of his form. He too, when not at his best, should be able to make way. Finally, his retirement from international duty is timely, despite no one wishing him ill over his injury, from which, hopefully, he will have recovered in time to help us take full points of lesser opposition, following the several forthcoming fixtures we are less likely to profit from.

Sadly he is going to miss the very games where he would have had more time and space to play and therefore do damage when we are counter attacking.

Too much reliance upon Zaha; inadequate transfer action whereupon we still can't recruit required credible forwards etc for a team that finished in 11th last season and should've struck considerable appeal to prospective players. Basement scrap awaits yet again...
