Am thinking of getting the Super Nintendo Mini Classic as it's got Mario Kart and Street Fighter. The Mega Drive Classics console looks good also. Anyone got these?

Probably the best for that period of gaming history. I suppose the Atari for circa 1980, or MAME ,a coin op emulator that I used to like for arcade fun that has ROMs for all your favourite games.

I got the Super Nintendo one earlier this year. Was my favourite console i've had and loved the games but must admit that they didn't entertain for long this time round. Could just be my age!!!

I played the old Mario games on the switch but got bored.

I've read some bad things about the mini mega drive. Not very well made etc. The official mini mega drive was supposed to come out this year but think it's now 2019.

I have the mega drive game on Xbox one tho. Streets of rage 1, 2 and 3 are still amazing.

PS1 mini is coming out in December. Hopefully they'll have some decent games on.

for me its gotta be the SNES. still use it now & then, super bomberman, nba jam, obvs mariokart...great games for multiplayer.

never been interested in games consoles since i was roughly 16. obviously i have played the odd game of ISS or tiger woods golf some 10 years ago with mates but still have fond memories of playing games as a kid.

also used to enjoy sensible soccer & the first gta on the amiga!

I've always been a PlayStation man but disappointed the new incarnation has so few games on it.

There is money in these things.

Quite a few of the Shoreditch type craft beer places have retro games nights where they hire in a guy with all the original kit adapted to run on bigger hd screens. Places get rammed.

I also discovered my pal Steve was still a brutal Street Fighter master.

The megadrive flashback emulation is very poor the snes mini is far superior or I’d recommend a retron 5 it plays snes and megadrive all region carts in hd also plays game boy advance and game boy colour games all n hd

I had an Ingersoll console in the garage, until it got chucked recently.
It had an 'olympics' cartridge, where in black and white, you could play tennis, ice-hockey, football basketball etc. It had a switch for selecting one or two players.

Then we had the Atari 1200. Colour and sound arcade games, on your TV. To be fair, they were a poor imitation of arcade games.

PC's came in around this time, with the BBC, spectrum and Dragon. They were adequate enough for games.

Suppose it's the era you were born, defines what you were brought up on.

I've got the Snes Mini. The games are great but I only have a massive TV (first world problems I know), which means the pixels are about 1" squared and all the games look rubbish at that scale. Using the TVs upscaling doesn't really work either. So whichever one you buy I'd say you don't want anything larger than a 30" TV at most.

I know there is a way to hack the Snes mini and get loads more games - easily searchable on Google I'd have thought.
