I don't normally do dissing my own players, but I'm making an exception here. Was good v Man U at home last year in midfiled, and I thought so he gets played at left back or winger cos he's got a left foot, could be a wing back but he's actually a midfielder who happens to be left-footed. Great goal at Fulham. But I've been to the last two home games and he's been woeful - he is the total passenger, never breaks out of a jog, a lazy useless article - filled a hole when Sam brought him in but value for money wise he's worse than Benteke, at least we got one good season out of him. Saw van Arnholt cut inside on Sat and Schlupp moved inside to the right side of the pitch instead of overlapping on the left- shocking.Rant over.

The two problems with Schlupp is that firstly nobody seems to know what he is... He's not a left back, he's not a left winger and he's certainly not a centre midfielder. Secondly he's not a very good player. My mate at work has had a season ticket at Leicester for years. He laughed when we signed him. He couldn't believe what we had paid for him and warned me that he was garbage.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

I agree it’s difficult to know what his position is.

He is a poor player, getting paid unbelievable money ..just doesn’t make sense. Literally he is either standing still or a best the occasional jog...the whole game. When he plays left back he just jogs slowly to close down his opponent...left wing ...doesn’t want the ball, doesn’t move...he is a total passenger in the team. I’m sure the other players know this...not sure Roy and Ray see it ...

The first time he played for us I was impressed with his place but the only time he shifts his arse these days is to get to the bank, by the looks of it. Has been s***e this season apart from that goal.

seems a player incapable of getting his head up when in possession. We paid an obscene amount of money for somebody with that flaw to his game. nor is he an age where material improvement seems realistic.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Absolutely static when we're in possession. Doesn't look for the ball or attempt to find any space. How he started in from of Meyer on Saturday was baffling. In fact he should be behind Puncheon in the pecking order, at least he cares !

We essentially paid £13 million for a left foot. If Schlupp wasn't left-footed, he would be playing in League One.

Logically you think he will bring balance being a left-sided player but I'd rather be slightly imbalanced and start Meyer or Kouyate (or even Williams).

I know managers change along with playing styles but when we've been used to pacey wingers its noticeable when they are not there. Andros has his attributes but his lack of pace does let him down. You can't really give him the ball and expect he will get you up the pitch like Zaha or Bolasie for example (his run and goal at West Brom being the exception). I think we miss that right sided pacey winger. However Townsend fits in with Roys ethos. Edited by MonsterMunch (10 Oct 2018 9.52am)
