With Bournemouth not being as much of a physical team as Huddersfield or Newcastle, kouyate’s physical presence probably wouldn’t be necessary. This would allow a start for meyer? Edited by Evan147 (30 Sep 2018 9.35am)

I suspect that Kouyate will play against Bournemouth and Meyer will be on the bench.

I would love to see more of Meyer, give him a start and let him bed himself into the team.Maybe and i know its unfair,at the expense of macca.Give luka and Kouyate the holding and break up play positions, and max further forward linking midfield and forward.Could develop into the position Eden Hazzard plays.

I know it is relatively early days but he's not shown anything that would warrant him being in the team. Back to the thread. Hell yes! When we got this diamond it was surely as a replacement for Cabaye? I know he's not played since May and its a new league, etc. Enough. We drew against Newcastle and got beaten by Southampton at home! If Roy wants to change the shape of the team and have Kouyate and Luka as a defensive screen, fine. But we have got to have this man in the centre of the midfield.

I’d personally line up exactly how we lined up against Bournemouth last season. With Meyer in the RLC role. Wilf & Andros up top running in behind & drifting wide when needs be. And us playing the intricate and high intensity football we’ve proven we can. Although I’ve heard from pretty good authority that Meyer starts over Kouyate tonight. With Ayew up Top in a 433. I think we played better in the system of last season. Excellent at times. And this forces Wilf to track back far too often and also sees Meyer too deep, in a role that doesn’t play to his strengths. But at least Meyers on the pitch. Edited by Mstrobez (01 Oct 2018 3.29pm)

We suffer from lack of goals (as always) and this is mainly because we have no midfield 'general' Meyer has ball control and vision and he should be given an extended opportunity to show how good he is. Now, if we had a poacher like Gayle they would be a good match but we don't and so must rely on Townsend and Zaha to feed off him.

But he should be doing this in an advanced role behind the forwards if we’re really to get the best out of him. He played more of the Cabaye role against West Brom and especially when he came on against Newcastle. That’s why I suggest playing him where RLC did, as he had the license the shift centrally, push forward and link up with whoever was up top when we had possession.
