I'm Stupidly excited by this, such a great 3 days of sport. I'm trying to go all day tomorrow without hearing any results so i can watch the highlights without knowing what has happened!

Edited by chateauferret (27 Sep 2018 10.44pm) I DO see the attraction for those who are interested, however I see this as a niche event in a minority, elitist sport that is declining in popularity (golf is, I mean - the number of regular players is in decline). 5Live did a preview the t’other evening, and some pundit said pretty much the same as ‘your’ TalkSh!te person, adding that the Ryder Cup is “the biggest sporting event in the world”. When asked if that meant it was “bigger than the Olympic Games; bigger than the football World Cup?”, he replied “absolutely”. Deranged. Edited by YT (28 Sep 2018 5.44am)

PS: I don’t even regard it as the biggest event in golf. If a golf fairy decreed that I could have just one weekend of glory, I would choose to win the Open Golf Championship and not the Ryder Cup. The winner of the Open will go into golf immortality. A member of a team that won the Ryder Cup will soon be forgotten.
