I don't know how my fellow Palace fans feel about him but Im sure I'm not the only football fan who finds him extremely overrated and an extremely dodgy indvidual

My dad back in the day saw him, he said as much as he hated to admit it, maradonna was the best he’s ever seen. Hard to compare players of different eras. One had to deal with kicks and rear slide tackles, probably endless racism in the stands, and still come out fighting and glowing. Today’s players have to beat players with arguably better technique, athleticism etc. Pace. There probably have been better players but to me no one was more majestic than Zidane

I was fortunate enough to see both Pele and then Maradonna play live in competitive World Cup matches. I have no hesitation in stating that in my opinion, Pele was clearly the better and more skilful of the two.

I never like to say one player is better than another especially players from different eras and different types of players. You cannot have a debate about Messi without someone chiming in and saying Ronaldo is better. They are stand out players with their own unique brilliance which makes them stand out and cannot be compared to others, that's what makes them unique Like saying pears are better than apples

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Dominated his era in a way that no other player has dominated theirs. And there were a lot of seriously good players in his time. Untouchable.

Pele was the most over rated footballer of all time. And a liar. He claims to have scored 1000 goals. Think about how many that means per season and it's quite simply not true. Unless he counts all the goals he scored in the playground and in kickabouts, in which case I'm probably nudging that too. And ask most people what their three most memorable moments are of Pele. 1, the header against England that Gordon Banks saved = he missed; 2, the shot from the half way line v Czechoslovakia that went wide = he missed, and 3, when he dummied the keeper, the ball went one side and he went the other, then had an open goal to slot the ball into and, yep, he missed. Anyone remember when they gave him the chequered flag to wave at the Brazilian Grand Prix? Guess what....he missed the finish. And proof the bloke couldn't score was that he ended up advertising erectile disfunction treatment. In short, the bloke's a charlatan and is little better than Trevor Aylott.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

And yet he is still the most iconic footballer in the history of football.
