What line-up would you like to see tonight?

Guiata

Ward Kelly Riedewald Souare

Kaikai Kouyate Meyer Schlupp

Ayew Sorloth

Even with these major changes, I still think we'd look alright.

If someone else could make the match thread tonight I'd appreciate it - I'll only just make it back from my 8-a-side game after kick-off.

Can't argue with that team. Maybe Lokilo instead of Schlupp.

Correction: apparently Ayew is technically eligible but Swansea have insisted that he not be selected: [Link]

A nice selection of people who - mostly - have not had much game time. Lokilo, and some other under 23 team members need to be on the bench. The members of the selection have a lot to prove, which will hopefully translate into a win and give Roy more selection options - oh for another AWB (yet to play ten PL matches and already a cause of opposition fear)to reveal himself.

Great. So we didn’t bring him on v Watford when a change was needed but now we can’t play him v Swansea, albeit because Swansea don’t want us to.

Why are we playing Sunday and then Tuesday anyway? That cup run we’ve been tipped to go on could be over very early.

Fair line up. Let's hope we see a better display from a scratch team than Ashton Gate last year. Not sure how Ayew can be picked but the Swans can then say no. COYP !

I'd take this but with Benteke up front for the first hour.

Guiata

AWB
Kelly
Jairo
Souare

KaiKai
Kouyate
Meyer
Schlupp

Sorloth
Benteke

Bench:

Speroni
Williams
Ward
McArthur
Daly
Luka
Townsend

I think AWB has to come in for Ward on the basis that he didn't play Sunday.

Benteke needs a goal so I'd like to see him get 45 mins tonight. On the basis that Ayew can't play, I'd like to see him start on Saturday whilst giving Benteke and Sorloth 90 mins.

Meyer and Kouyate ideally to get an hour of football or more ahead of Saturday to give us options with match practice.

Zaha, Sakho, Tomkins, PVA, Townsend and Luka all to be rested, if possible.

On the same link, Hodgson suggests that we asked Swansea to play on Wednesday, and they said no.

AWB Kelly Jairo Souare

Williams Kouyate Meyer Puncheon

Sorloth Kaikai

I think we'll be frail at the back tonight unless Roy risks playing Sakho (which I hope he doesn't). I really want Williams to be given a chance and with Swansea being more of a ball playing team we can probably get away with two shorties in him and Meyer. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Punch get a run out in a narrow four with his left peg still capable of picking a pass. Kaikai played as a striker to good effect in pre-season, so I hope he isn't put out on the wing as I think he would just disappear. He can basically play the Zaha role of a converted winger.

Overall I just hope we come away without any injuries and some game time for the new boys and anything else is a bonus. Looking at Swansea's recent line-ups they do look like they will struggle this season, but cup games can be a whole different ball game, as the cliché goes.

How about Ryan Inniss in the centre of defence

Put Benteke on to start, then rest him on Saturday - allows Ayew a start and saves CB some face because he'll have played 3 games in a week.

Still, not impressed that Swansea have nixed it.
