Don’t get me wrong this kid has great potential and it brilliant to see a local boy in the team.

However, to put a small dampener on the hype, why does he always seem to be putting in (albeit impressive) last ditch challenges?

Compare that to PvA who is an established premier league full back - he almost never has to do this.

Could argue it cost him the Red today.

Lot of improvements to be made as he should not be needing to make this many tackles.

Andros is an inside out wide player so Bissaka is required to look to overlap and support more. Zaha goes over to the left more than the right.

Shame PVA didn't put a last ditch challenge on Mane when he appeared to have him covered.

Lots of Liverpool fans were purring at Wan-Bissaka's display. We'll miss him against Watford

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

I agree with the OP. Up against the usually slower and potentially past it players normally found out on the wing AWB should be doing far better.

It’s nice to have a full back that’s quick enough to have a chance to catch players like Mane/Salah. Wardy’s been a good servant, but BIssaka must be at least twice as fast.

He is an attack-minded full back who is obviously asked to push up and provide a wide option when Townsend cuts inside.

Walker does it for Man City but the difference is the movement of a centre midfielder, usually Fernandinho, back to cover defence and to fill the deficit in defence.

It didn't look like anyone was told or willing to do that for us and playing so narrow AWB had little other option. He was the only player to get near Salah in the breakaway and took one for the team by getting that red card.

A player like Mane usually skins the full-back and leaves him for dead - I'd rather have a full-back that has the pace and determination to get a tackle in even if it is last-ditch

Player should preempt and be in position making last ditch challenges unnecessary.

If wholly necessary it’s great to have that in his locker but it should be last resort not the go to.

As I said, he has great potential but I’m sure the club will be working on this side of his game.

FYI over his career Maldini averaged 0.56 tackles per game.

it looked like Joel Ward had learned a trick or two when he came on. Hopefully ABW has made Ward up his game in the same way that Hennessy has with Guaita. At least we have decent cover at RB and it won't hurt for AWB to have a break from the limelight and learn a hard lesson. It's a long season.
