I had a very interesting conversation yesterday with a lady who works for the Home office in its Central London Main Office. She told me that £36,000.00 has been spent so that the toilets are gender neutral. It could have been done for less money, but being in a workplace signage was needed at a cost of £8,000.00. There is one problem. Blokes are so used to urinals that they enter the cubicels and neglect to shut the doors. Female staff who feel uncomfortable with this are not using the toilets. We need to do our bit and shut doors in these circumstances.

How many people is this actually applicable to?

Some people are just too sensitive.

In France, I have used (desperately) a toilet with no doors, no toilet paper and no towels (which didn't really matter, as there was no water).

I had to phone Mrs H to fetch some toilet paper.

A roadside facility? No, the Town Hall in a town of c100,000 inhabitants.

Yes, but would you have changed your tampon?

This was discussed on LBC and for once I am with the ladies on this. Us guys can be pretty "caveman" in the toilets and I don't blame any woman not wanting to see or hear those sights.

The solution is obvious but typical civil servants would rather blow the tax payers money on a solution no one wants.

Handicapped toilets are gender neutral. Just change the sign to include "those who feel excluded". If they don't like that then pick a gender.

Another reason we like our privacy is that women are quiet in a lavatory - making noises is a real no-no in the Ladies.

Now, according to my husband, lots of men, whilst using the stall, tend to accompany their actions with farts, grunts, groans and plentiful exclamations of the "O God, no!" "Oh! Pleeeease!" "Oh Help Me" and "Oh! Come On" variety variety.

Like Badger11, I'm with the women on this one.

We do that because it's just 'right'.

Women utter exactly the same phrases while being humped - because it's just 'right'.

I know....here's a solution.

Just have separate male and female toilets.

As for anyone telling people how a gender should behave.

That's like the old King Canute and the tide.

Isn't it so like the 'progressives' to create a problem that never existed and then blame the people who never wanted it in the first place.
