Clubs that would make a profit even if they had no fans turn up.

Worrying figures. How long before the fans are considered as just another overhead?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

May as well let us all in for nothing then, as our contribution is so insignificant.

Does make you wonder why season ticket prices were raised.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

The cost of security etc on match days must be quite significant so after paying the fixed costs on the ground (rates, ground staff and so on) then I’d venture that it’d be more profitable to play all our matches behind closed doors. Quite sad to see what football’s become.

What's sad about premier league clubs making tons of money or Palace making a profit instead of losing money like the majority of the Championship clubs? Are you saying you'd rather we struggle along trying to make ends meet on our rather pathetic gate receipts?

No, I'm saying that it's sad that the fans, always the heart and soul of any club, seem to be becoming less and less connected or, indeed relevant. The emotional link seems to be more and more tenuous as the Premier League reinforces itself as a brand and becomes as impersonal as any other faceless plc.

But then Sky wouldn't pay to televise games without the atmosphere the fans bring, so we'd have no TV money and no gate receipts.

Without the fans, football is nothing. The club's ought to remember this.

We may be less financially relevant but I think we still carry an emotional connection and I think Steve Parrish has acknowledged that within this report. I'm of the belief that the emotional connection is a personal one largely driven by the individual fan rather than the club and as such that link may well live or die on the back of our own commitment and continued belief. I think we have all supported Palace through good and bad times financially and that has never impacted upon my continued support as I imagine it never has for others either. I guess that we have to make the choice whether to be the heart and soul or allow that to be ground to dust under the corporate heel (apologies for the rather obvious use of cliche).

The premiership has become too big for it's own good, it's good that it is one of the UK's great brands and and positive for UK PLC but football fans don't benefit from it, in fact we are worse as we are not the target audience anymore but the extras !

I love the German league, it's all about the fans and for the fans and their support is 2nd to none

Indeed, and with modern CGI, you could just overlay a crowd in the empty stands for the SKY viewers, complete with politically correct chanting.
"....South London is wonderful, it's got {insert sponsors name}, {insert sponsors name}, and Palace,...."
Parish said the fans were most important, and the Planning of the new stand confirms the club view.

Very sad state of affairs. Well done Sky
