What a great start to the test series it's been so far.

2 sessions to 1 in our favour on day 1.

Hopefully we take 3 more wickets in the evening session and match the other two sessions of today.

I was there yesterday and having sat there watching the cricket for three hours I popped down to the toilet and missed the pivotal moment in the test when Root was run out. I missed all of the big screen replays too

Incidentally I really want to be there next year when David Warner walks out to bat

Never leave your seat when it's going well!

I'm not so sure Mr Warner will be getting a recall post his ban.

India let off by dropped catches here.

7 wickets down now - Kohli has survived but dropped twice.

Cracking test match - low scoring games are invariably exciting.

It was certainly a day for me, a student of the 'nurdle to third man'.

Even after England had shipped 46 runs there, they still would not put a fielder at third man.

haven't seen the highlights but one of their exotic tweaky spinners is turning Cook's tezzies the wrong way round apparently, could any experts elucidate?

Cook needs a bat two foot wide at the moment. Good del8veries without doubt but should do better. He needs a rest.

I never understand this and why third man is such an unfashionable position. In a low scoring game (by modern standards) those 46 runs could be vital

Cook was out in the first innings by leaving a ball from the spinner that spun in and took off his off stump bail. To make matters worse he was out in the second innings in exactly the same way

It's actually quote concerning that he is still in the team. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Alistair Cook fan, I think he's one of the best bats we have ever had. But his form (bar one epic knock in the ashes) of the last year has been appalling. And, as you have pointed out, his technique against off spin seems to be shot.

Says more about how few top order options we've got coming through county cricket at the moment.
