I'm beginning to suspect we're choosing these names for their amusement value. I mean, come on, Maxime Gonalons and now Younes Belhanda.

Weird went through a stage of following his career after seeing some highlights of him a few years back. I think he's a pretty tidy player, strong but also quite light on his feet. Plays the ball forward and is positive. Not sure how much truth is in this rumour but an interesting option

This describes his style of play, seems like he’s a typical no 10 and could set up loads of chances for Benteke or Sørloth

I've never loked Belhanda's playing style. He always seemed slow and overweight to me. Granted, I haven't seen him many times, but from what I've seen, that's my impression. He hardlynkeeps up with the pace in Turkey. Premier League is definitely not the right league for him. Skilled, bur slow, I'd say he's unadaptable here in a number 10 role.

With 1 player there in the centre already slow (Benteke or another centre forward), having another slow player down the centre would be a disaster

Does this seem like a guy who could make it in the Premier League? He falls down at the slightest touch and he's not going to get those fouls here. He is strong and protects the ball really well, but only in staying still position, no speed, no hard work running into position to make room for others. Yes, he can dribble, he has skills, but they keep repeating the assists he gave to Bafetimbi Gomis in a video made especially to show what he did last year! They keep repeating them cause they weren't that many, even though he kept taking free kicks. In a league like the Turkish one or the Ukrainean one, he didn't stand out. He played behind the striker, not as a central midfielder, but was not among the top assisters or scorers of those leagues. Which makes it hard to believe that he would stand out in a better league. He will be 29 in February and his resale value after 30 will be very low.

I think he's a Shelvey thpe of player, slow, but good with the ball at his feet. But he has no prior experience playing central midfielder like Shelvey, so he'll probably be a disaster at defending if you put him there. And in a number 10 role, he just isn't cut out for a league so fast as the PL

From these highlights he does look pretty sluggish. Always thought from games I've seen anyway that he dictates play quite well but honestly, upon reflection he probably wouldn't suit our team or this league. I can see him being a player who you'd want to do well because of their ability but ultimately getting frustrated with them loosing the ball constantly. He's not the same player, but he'd be a puncheon.

I do think you tend to show bias towards pace though, Mattteo and often find it hard to conceive that a player has any real worth without it.

From what I’ve seen of him, what he lacks in pace he makes up for in technical proficiency. And that’s the exact type of player Palace have been missing for years, and will miss even more with the departure of Cabaye.

I’d take Belhanda at this price over Gonalons & Kouyate every day of the week. Looks like he’s versatile in his positioning as well, which means he’ll fit Roys 4 in midfield perfectly.

We're the Arthur over ere!
