If RLC plays well today, that will possibly put pay to us having him next year... But what about us trying for Ross Barkley instead?

Possibly, possibly not. He played well in a friendly vs Germany and Chelsea haven’t said they want him next season.

Chelsea have a surfeit of midfield players Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Barkley, Pedro, RLC, Fabregas who are probably not currently who they would want in starting line up for a top 4 chasing team
Other than us and RLC none of these have had transfers associated with them from what I have seen with Willian the main player of interest
With a new manager coming in possibly with his own targets, something has got to give there, you would think

You can now add Jorginho to that impressive list too!

Yep. Just saw that. Pep will be a happy man! Still he did get Mahrez

TBH at Chelsea my main concern would be Hazard now. Wilf seems an obvious replacement if he leaves

In reply to the OP.....

RLC

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I think i heard that Jorginho was all set to go to Man City and was happy to go there but has now been told he's going Chelsea instead.

RH has said we're not a selling club and Wilf and Andros are going nowhere!

Barkley has a lot more feats : goals and assists and good matches. He actually justified his big transfer fee.

RLC has only been a promise.

But even taking Barkley on loan would probably not be the best option for the squad. You only disrupt it if you know you won't be able to pay a 30 million asking clause at the end of a year loan.

Same with RLC.

Not sure you are right there. wouldn't want Barkley, as I have said before, it is not all about stats.. would Barkley want to play for Palace..no, would RLC absolutely. I would prefer a "lesser" player who will bust a gut for the club rather than one who doesn't give a flying fig.

be hard for anyone - other than Barkley's immediate family - who would rate him higher than RLC. Maybe he will take a stock of himself but he doesn't fit the Palace profile really

Was RLC a disruption because we couldn’t afford to sign him at the end of the season?

You only get a disruption if the player is disruptive. It’s a squad game now and rarely does a player play all season, even if fit.
