With all these players taking the spotlight there will surely be an inflation of their prices. But woud this be a good time to move for players who are not at the World Cup? As important as they might have been at the end of the leagues, they will be somewhat forgotten by the end of the World Cup. Just like by the end of the Champions League PSG's fantastic run in the group stage had been largely forgotten after they went out in the first 16. Just like players like Alvaro Morata are not considered surplus after a few months of not playing though they were stars 1 summer ago. Just like how Gylfi Sigurdsson was third best assister in the PL a few months ago and now he's a nobody at Everton. With a budget of, let's say 35 million, my picks would be: any of the bolded right backs- 5-7 million Bastos, Rakitsky or Yanga Mbiwa would be the easiest to bring out of the center backs- 5-7 million I'd be very happy with someone like Bastos. Mangala's contract is up in 2019, but Man City being Man City will still ask for a lot of money. Gonzalo Castro seems to be leaving Dortmund and Aranguiz might be available cheaper than usually with Leverkusen missing out on the Champions League. Their deals run out in 2020. Daniel Wass has been spectacular for a Celta Vigo team that missed out on European football next year. His deal runs out in 2019, Celta wants to cash in, Palace were once linked- each of these who could be brought for 5 million would be wonderful. Ok, if you spend like 20 million so far, then that's only 15 million to go. I'd take Nani for the 5 million Valencia are asking. I don't care what you'd say about his behaviour, most of it are unjust rumours anyway. He's not a difficult player, he actually does a lot of defesive duties: 8 goals and 12 assists in just 2200 minutes of playing time in Spain and Italy in the last 2 years is amazing. He's like a Wilf Zaha, only a little older. But his defensive contribution is still great, highlighted here: [Link] 3 goals and 1 assist at the Euro 2016, maybe Portugal's best man. I'd give Bernard a bumper deal cause he's on a free. Berghuis wouldn't cost much either, so he would be an option. Left footed, really rocked it in the Eredivisie this year: most assists and goals. Wasn't given playing time at all in Watford. Soudani would be almost free, in the region of 2 millions, so he's a no-brainer. Konoplyanka is available for a 1 year loan, so that would be a nother option without paying anything except his salary. And 2 strikers out of Plea, Duvan Zapata, Niasse and Origi. Couldn't really get 2 with just 10 million left, but selling Benteke would bring in the needed money. Considering Plea costs 20-25 million (totally worth it though) and Zapata has recently been signed by Sampdoria from Napoli for 17 million and there would be problems with his transfer because of the lack of international matches, I'd look mostly to Niasse and Origi. I don't think we require a right back if Ward resigns as cover for W-B. I know Ward was exposed and sometimes lacking pace but I think money would be better spent on a quality midfielder that could sit in front of the right back. I could see Dendonker fitting into the midfield and would rather see us keeping Andros and not signing anyone from West Ham or Wiltshire as he is always injured. Just my opinion.
