What a shame; he really was the culinary bad boy.

I read his autobiography several years ago. An interesting man and the book was a good read

Kitchen Confidential. I'm going to read it again together with A Cook's Tour. His programmes were so much more edgy and entertaining than watching middle-aged and elderly women cooking in their expensive kitchens or public schoolboys doing mockney whilst presuming to tell everyone else what they and their offspring should be eating

Absolutely devastated about this news. Tony was and always will be a big hero of mine. A real travesty that his programs were never commissioned for airing in the UK as folks here have missed out on his brilliance. A visionary, a rebel and a seriously cool dude. I’m going to binge watch all of his shows this weekend and try and let this terrible news sink in. He led a life that many including myself would call living the dream. Travelling the globe meeting interesting people eating and drinking some amazing food whilst always doing things his way. Just goes to show how powerful a disease depression can be if a man like Tony can take his own life.
R.I.P Anthony Bourdain.

I didn't see any of his cookery programs which is quite sad and I agree with you about most "celebrity chefs" too.

My favourite is Rick Stein who has such a wonderful way with words that I get hungry just listening to him but unfortunately I have a couple of his books and his recipes just don't work very well.

On the opposite side I don't really like watching the Hairy Bikers but I have a couple of their books and their recipes do work

Tony was in a class of his own. I highly recommend you watch No Reservations, Lay Over and Places Unknown. He simply did things his own way. Said it how it is.

Funnily enough I walked past Desmonds Pub on Park Ave South about 30 minutes ago. It's a very nondescript looking Irish Boozer but because Bourdain ate what he reckon's was one of the best Burgers he's ever had. It has lots of people going in there for it...

I haven't been able to find that on any Sky channels.

I suspect an English Literature degree from Oxford helps. His biography 'Under a Mackerel Sky' is worth a read.

I’m sorry to confess that I’ve never ‘eard of him. Terrible news though.

Sad news. I wonder what made him decide to take his own life when he seemingly had it all?
