Hopefully new 1 year deal for jules. Still good enough as a squad keeper and maybe a run out in the league cup. Brings a lot to the team behind the scenes as well. sign him up

These figures are only from memory so will not be 100% so don't quote this as fact! But it struck me that he was comparatively on a lot of money for doing not a lot. A younger backup would cost a lot less. There is an assumption that he is a good influence in some kind of paternal sense, but has anyone ever verified this? The success of a player has little relevence to being a successful coach or mentor. I'm not for a second knocking the guy, clearly a true legend and gentleman. However it is worth noting that whilst he has been very loyal in the past, at 39 he has a dream job! Let's not let sentimentality cloud judgement of good value.

Buffon, goalkeeper aged 40, got as far as the last 4 teams in this years champions league. Speroni is a keeper - in every sense of the word. often prem teams release fellas you barely recognise from their B team. Delaney, Benteke and Puncheon staying with us ? Surprised when we lost Jedi and Muzza. I hope the thinking is better this time. and as for Wilfried....

Also the behaviour of so called fans towards keepers brought in has been disgraceful and has not helped them establish themselves at the club. Likewise I am not knocking him but we need to move on to a replacement but I would love him to stay at club in a non playing capacity

Every keeper has had a fair crack, except perhaps McCarthy. Hennessey's done well since he came back in after Christmas but for two and a half years prior looked dodge. Short memory syndrome on here.

The standard of keeping in the Prem is poor. You only have to look at Karius’ performance the other night to see that. Hennessy is a decent keeper. He is solid enough, he will make the odd mistake usually at dead ball situations. But apart from De Gea they all do.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
