All this waffle about knife crime, yet this is the same mob who were crying about racism and stop and search!

The mothers of murder victims have been saying the same stuff for decades nay probably since societies were thought civilised.....guess what, those that murder aren't interested.

Soft touchy feely Policing added to less Police just gets you higher criminality. The social damage of no fathers can't be solved as that is cultural within communities. If you want to reduce knife crime, target teenage gangs and enforce proper sentences. It's hardly rocket science.....they let the population rapidly rise but didn't build more prisons and infrastructure.

Exactly. The usual suspects complain about police harassment and then in the same breath "we never see the police around here and they don't care". This sort of crime will not be solved solely by policing although a bit of zero tolerance wouldn't go amiss.

To some extant the solution lies in the hand of the "community". This mother blames the police for her son's death. Whilst I understand her grief she is simply wrong. Too many people in the "community" know who the "perps" are but refuse to co-operate with the police and then blame the cops when no one is convicted. I hear so called community leaders and experts blame racism and lack of opportunities for young people. This is not the deep south and these kids have the same chance at education as the rest of us did.

The question we need to ask is why then do many young men from a certain background ignore the opportunities and prefer a life of crime. This however is not a conversation that the "community" wants to have, far better to blame it on someone else. Until then this problem will continue.

Imagine how it will be in 50 years.

If we must tolerate the negative effects of immigration to bolster the workforce, then the government should at least enforce law and order instead of pandering to whinging minorities to the detriment of public safety.

'Tough on crime tough on the causes of crime', labour can justifiably claim this to have been reasonably successful.

Austerity, saving money running the police and other services down is behind this.

Even now, still no response from the government.

No emergency legislation, no restoration of police numbers, no idea what to do.

You are just another Labour minion. The only thing Labour can lay claim to is wasting tax payers money on unnecessary administration

Better pay for less work.......?

There also needs to be a long hard look taken at how these young people are getting their hands on weapons. I shoot at an accredited rifle range, and believe me you have to go through hoops in the gun shop before they will sell you even an air rifle, let alone all the checks and paperwork if you want a live ammunition one. So how does a 14-15 year old obtain one?

Disturbingly it may be older men doing the shooting. There's likely a rite of passage from teenagers knifng to guns in adulthood.

what would you say to carry a knife or gun, get involuntary castration ?

It takes the violence and aggression out of dogs. They are less deserving of castration most of the time as they...
1. do not carry weapons
2. have usually no previous history of anti social behaviour
3 are lovable and cuddly.

cut off the goolies ?

I like the theme of your thread and others have touched on it.

However, blaming immigration? At the moment, the perpetrators and victims of these crimes in London and Manchester are largely the descendants of the Windrush generation who came here over 50 years ago. They are not from the recent influx of Poles, Latvians and Romanians. Thus, are you proposing we aggressively target the Afro-Caribbean population? I think that was done before with disastrous consequences.

Also, if you get into a nasty row in Darlington, Dundee or Doncaster and someone sticks a knife in you or kicks you in the head leaving you permanently disabled, they will invariably be white British.
