With what is happening in the world at the moment, I can't see how England can go to Russia in 2 months time.

Thoughts ?

But you can see France going?

Nothing stops FIFA from getting paid. It will carry on regardless of what happens elsewhere.

We should pull out in protest over the use of nerve agents and promoting Syria.

That would of course save us the ignominy of getting knocked out in the group stages, which has every chance as I don't think 0-0 draws will get us very far.

State sponsored doping on Russian squad and hooligans using steroids, might put a few off.

Even if England do go, I doubt very much they'll be planning on staying long.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I don't think they'll be either boycotts or bans, given FIFA's "no governmental interference" rules. However, for the first time in my adult life, I will not watch it. I may not watch the 2022 either, that is, if I'm still alive.

The incredible thing for me is how a ‘world event’ can be held in Russia in the first place. And a world sporting event in a country that’s been proven to have a state-sponsored drugs cheating regime. They deny it, of course!

Money is the answer, as with Qatar.

It's curious that Turkey are bidding to host the Euros despite being 90 odd% in Asia and having another quasi-dictator in charge, like Russia, and on the border of war zones, again like Russia.

I think Germany may prevail out of those two bids.

Fair comment on the political aspects. Although Turkey is (rightly or wrongly) a member of UEFA, so I guess it should have a fair crack at being allowed to host 'Euro' things; it has of course hosted the (so-called) Champions League final.
