Has had a decent season with Norwich and speculation is that Dougie has been taking a look at him. A potentially very good young talent but I can't see Palace paying the quoted value of £25 million for him? It would make him our third ever most expensive transfer after Tekkers and Sakho.

I have seen Maddison play.
Real technical ability and a good passer of the ball.
Has a good free kick in his locker.
Has a stunning strike and when he scores they tend to be special goals.
Can be bullied off the ball by opponents physicality and pace is an issue but he compensates for this by his technical prowess.

Alex Neil signed him for £3 Mill from Coventry.I cannot see us signing him for £25 Mill.

Sounds a tailor made replacement for Cabaye then?

I cant see ANYONE paying £25m for him at the moment unless its made up of numerous staged payments and add ons.

Knowing us We'd try and hold out for £3m plus a Chung Young Lee thinking we'd be in with a chance taking it to the wire before then leaving us without any other back up options.

well we have both cabaye & jimmy mac out of contract in 5 games time.

we also have RLC going back to chelsea

and i think puncheon is never seeing the 1st team again.

so we need some quality injected into that area of the park...

this is going to be an expensive summer.

No one will pay 25 million for him. If Maddison is a player of a good caliber, he will be looking for a move away from Norwich. They are making no attempt at coming back up to the Premier League so will want a way up.

With an aging midfield, we can offer an opportunity to get tutored by the midfielders we have and have a position if growth goes according to plan. The kid has potential and if we can get him on the cheap, I'll be over the moon. If we do a trade deal, with someone like Lee, it is a win/win situation. We need depth in the squad and Maddison could supply that.

How does swapping Lee and Maddison add depth? I can agree that it might improve the quality, but one-out, one-in would not add depth.

He would add to the depth as he has quality. You could have 40 players that can play a position but if they are the same quality as Lee, we don't have a deep squad.

By adding Maddison, we will be able to have him as a backup/future first team player and have youngsters behind him in the pecking order. We have a youth team full of quality players, they need to be given an opportunity. This will create a continuous cycle of players coming into the team.

I was at the Norwich v Fulham game last week, Fulham's Tom Cairney was head and shoulders above Maddison and totally bossed it.
He's also looked very accomplished in Fulham's televised matches.
Norwich fans I talked to agree that Maddison has potential but apparently they have history of not turning out the finished article.
I know who I'd rather see at Selhurst.

It was Kit Symons who signed Cairney for Fulham from Blackburn for I think £3 Mill.
Good left-foot and can score from stunning free kicks.
Excellent delivery at corners and can unlock doors.
Good player.

We might have a chance of signing Maddison, but i would guess almost zero9 chance of getting Cairney, lots of BIG clubs after him apparently.
