I'm not being political here, but there used to be a Spitting Image song "I've never met a nice South African' and I think this apllies better to Christians. People often express their distaste at an apparent Muslim takeover - forget all the politics, but all the shop owners, traders and professionals I've met from Muslim countries have never inflicted any grief on me personally, perhaps because I haven't got close enough, but nearly all the Christians I have met have been either weirdos or nasty bits of work who act nice and do good deeds so they can look down their nose upon and hate genuinely nice people. It's probably 'believers' who are the problem - I'm agnostic not atheist btw and I respect the morality that religion tries to spread, and I have met some lovely, quiet Christians - most of us are non-committal these days or just pay lip-service to some vague belief - but would you want a Christian as your boss or drinking partner? Forget the politics of it all, just your genuine experience, most people if you say you're a Christian they treat you like a Jetihovah's Witness, and with good reason, my statistical and personal experience of Christians tells me to avoid. Anyone agree or not?

This doesn't match with my experience. The best, most hard working boss I ever had was a Christian and his actions demonstrated it. I do find from my daughters' experiences that there is a culture of disrespect towards women and white women in particular among some Muslim men, however.

I think that probably says more about the people that you meet rather than Christians in general.

Incidentally Joel Ward is a devout Christian

Wow what brought that on?

I am an atheist but I have many Christian friends and "other religions ". They are friends because I like them and they are good people. I don't care what their religion is. Likewise I dislike plenty of people for various reasons but I can't say their religion or lack of it is one of them.

The world is like Bertie Basset, full of all-sorts.

I have a female friend who is a priest, one of my team is quite a devout christian, neither try and force their beliefs on me, quite the opposite. I also have Sikh and muslim friends who are pretty religious but again don't force their beliefs.

I tend to find that it is evangelicals that can be a bit "in ya face"

the dignified don't even enter in the game

I think that's probably nearer the mark - the idea of a higher power I go along with, something beyond our ken, I don't know if my negative experiences are down to those Christians who think Jesus is their friend or whatever, I have just found some to have in common a striking hypocrisy where they'll f*ck you over and convince themselves it's OK bcos they're one of God's special people. I was brought up a Catholic so this may account for my bitterness - it's a proper excuse believe me.

Take a look at our first team squad. Ward, Speroni, Luca, Sako, Wilf to name a few all commited and vocal Christians.

Original poster talking tosh and likely to be turned to a pillar of salt.

Those are not Christians, they are people pretending to be Christians. See Matt. 7 : 16.

HTH.

No I don't please enlighten me - I'll check out the quotation of Chateauferret's - and btw this ain't some eccentric point of view bcos I'm outnumbered by the people stung into a reply, lots of people find formally religious people a bit dodgy - this is probably coming from my current experience with a line manager who is a skin crawling creep but thinks he's a nice bloke, he doesn't like me and suspects I have criminal tendencies because I have unpredictable qualities such as a sense of humour - I think a spotted a cross in his chain once - he could be one of those straight out of Matthew Chapter 7.
