1,80 height. Very young, very fast. Free since January 5th.
13 goals in 26 matches in the Colombian league.
2 goals in 5 matches in Libertadores.
1 goal in 1 match in Copa Sudamericana (equivalent of Europa League).

I think he left by his own volition and he's trying to get a contract in Europe.

May not seem much, but look at his age. He'll be 22 until next October. Former youth national teams international. He's one of the best 22 yo strikers in the world if you ask me, a real bright future.
Palace doesn't have a second striker. Both Benteke and Sorloth are center forwards. He'd need a work permit, but for a free addition, he's more than great.

Somehow, doesn't appear in the "without contract" category of players on tm:

How many 22 year olds are worth as much as him and are still without contract?

Sidenote: Diego Capel looks good too from that list. We all know he can run, he'd cut it in the PL. If Zaha will miss many more games....

Sounds like a great prospect, but we need players who can produce it NOW in the PL. Maybe one for the summer? Right now, especially with Speroni’s injury, we need another gk, hence the emphasis on this Brazilian guy Cavalieri

Just hypothetically, if he is 22, would he take a squad place? Could we sign him and The goalkeeper?

Wants to play in Europe. Goal every 180 minutes. Unlikely to get him registered and work-permitted in time for Manchester United. We could provide the "shop window he seeks. Nine matches left - can he score five goals or more? Suggest his payment for CPFC helping his European ambitions would be a commitment to Palace at least to the January 2019 window.

I started the thread but even I don't think a Colombian 22 yo can keep up the 180 minutes for a goal in the PL.

However, I'd screw the gk position. Hennessey is undisputable starter ahead of potential incoming Cavalieri, he's doing good. If anything happens, you can sign an emergency gk.

But goals are needed and are needed NOW. Which teams have fewer goals than Palace in the PL? And with Zaha out (who contributed to most of them) it's really grimm.

Chances of going down have spiraled up after the horrendous transfer window and Zaha's injury. Just 10 matches left. If Zaha misses 5 of them, we're foooked.

New blood to run behind the big target man is needed. Playing two big center forwards at the same time means fewer recoveries, less pressing, less movement. Playing McArthur behind Bentele means less chances for goals (kuddos to him, but he's a central midfielder). Ibarguen should at least score more than McArthur in that position. Not my first choice, but everything is finished, players can't be transfered anymore. More like a last effort to avoid relegation, Ibarguen is free and this is all that's left

He wouldn't get a work permit unless he can get an eu passport

Maybe someone to look at in the summer. But to sign an unknown youngster with potential --who maybe could get fit for 5 games, and may not even get a game in -- instead of a Keeper would be madness.

Yes, Hennessey is the starter, but he's had back issues before, if he's out, it's 20-year old Henry. It's nice to be able to do an emergency call up if WH gets injured, but who would that be? Some 40 year-old non-league pie-eater?

If we manage to sing someone to that last squad spot, it HAS to be a keeper.

They're getting 40 yo pie-eater Diego Cavalieri anyway. So it's not like it's a hurry cause someone else will get him in the next month anyway (they could even pass him 100 grand to make sure he doesn't sign with someone else for one month if they want to be sure).

But not that great a gk anyway, I'd have rather had Diego Alves as the Brazilians would have agreed to loaning him short term, they don't start their league till mid-April (such an emergency loan would be aproved by the FA if anything happened to Hennessey).

Yeah, Cavalieri may be past his prime, but he's not 40-years old and non-league. Roy knows him and obviously thought he might do a job.

Signing an unknown prospect that no-one bothered to sign in the window, instead of trying to get a back up keeper in, would be terrible risk-management.

Rules for work permit
In order to receive a work permit, a non
-
EU footballer must secure a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) from the FA.
In order to automatically qualify for a GBE, a non
-
EU footballer must have participated in a minimum percentage of seniorcompetitive international matches for his national team in the two years preceding the date of his application (for players aged twenty
one or younger, the reference period is reduced to one year). The required percentages are determined by that country’s FIFA world ranking as follows:
o
FIFA Ranking 1-10 : 30% and above
o
FIFA Ranking 11-20: 45% and above
o
FIFA Ranking 21-30: 60% and above
o
FIFA Ranking 31-50 : 75% and above

He has no senior caps so would go to appeal process

The appeals process consists of a review of
the player’s application conducted on a points -based system by a three person Exceptions Panel.
At the first instance, if the player scores four points or more, the Exceptions Panel may recommend that a GBE be issued, but isn’t obligated to do so.
The criteria is as follows:
o
The transfer fee being paid for the player is above the 75th percentile of all Premier League transfers in the
previous two transfer window 3 points
o
The transfer fee being paid for the player is between the 50th and 75th percentile of all Premier League
transfers in the previous two transfer windows 2 points
o
The wages being paid to the player by the applicant club are above the 75th percentile of the top 30
earners at each Premier League club during the previous transfer window 3 points
o
The wages being paid to the player by the applicant club are between the 50th and 75th percentile of the
top 30 earners at each Premier League club during the previous transfer window 2 points
o
The player’s current club is in a top league and the player has played in at least 30 per cent of the
available minutes in league matches 1 point
o
The player’s current club has played in the group stages of a continental competition within the last 12
months and the player has played in at least 30 per cent of the available minutes in league matches 1
point

I think he may get 1 or 2 points so I think it is unlikely apermit would be issued. We could contract him and loan to another EU country where rules are more lax.
