At the peak of their powers with us, which player has produced most for us? In my opinion it’s puncheon all day long, he single handedly kept us up the first season and was excellent the following seasons. I think due to the rapid decline in JP’s performances fans forget how good he was. I think Cabaye is a quality player but he has failed to live up to his reputation as our stellar signing.

Truth is cabaye was past peak when he joined us. Best years at Lille and Newcastle. We caught punch in the the prime of his, he’s done far more than cabaye for palace. But cabaye at his peak at Newcastle was a level above punch

Pucheon as a side midfielder. Cabaye as a central midfielder. Puncheon had been amazing for a team like Palace on the right (mainly due to being left footed): 5 goals, 6 assists in 2100 minutes in 2012/13 season Moving him to the center was the worst idea ever: 2 goals, 3 assists in 2600 minutes in 2015/16 season Edited by mattteo (13 Feb 2018 10.56pm)

OP makes a great point. I really rate Cabaye and probably the better player all told but when Puncheon was on it for us, he almost single handedly kept us up. Like a boss. So I’m voting JP. I think we’re generally too soon to write players off but he has been poor of late, hopefully he can get back to somewhere near his best as a squad player for us.

I think saying JP single-handedly kept us up is stretching it. He was our most effective creative player in 2013/14 but Pulis, Jedinal and the defence in the second half of the season can take a lot of credit As the above figures indicate, he has been on a steady decline (in fact he was better at Southampton). Given his age and injury, I'd be surprised to see him play for the team again if we stay up

Puncheon played in a much worst team (in terms of individuals at least), so not surprising he stood out. But would agree his contribution at Palace has been greater. In terms of actual ability however, it's a no brainer IMO; you only have to look at what they've each achieved in their careers...

Puncheon’s goals and set piece delivery in big games were one of the main reasons we stayed up first two seasons. A superb Holloway and Parish signing. Cabaye a better CM and footballer but has had less impact overall for us IMO.

Ruined him.

this thread should be put in the sentimental history section. Sadly, one of these players is completely shot and the other is rapidly losing popularity among fans. the Prem is ruthless. Lets thank the two boys for some good performances and go and recruit some hungry 21 year olds.
