Whatever the outcome of the season will be, in my mind Roy has shown today what a class act he is. Clearly pissed at BFS - for good reason - but he took the high ground and demonstrated he is no intellectual push over either. He has brought a new sense of decorum and football smarts to the club. Maybe old school, not flashy, but immense substance and wisdom. He deserves our support!

Is he? Read the press releases that most of the media are covering. It also answers the rather stupid statement made by quite a few people on this forum that he doesn't mind people taking the mickey out of his speech impediment

I wanted Allardyce to stay on as he seemed a good fit for the club, but he has always been egotistical and quick to blame others for when his teams don't perform. Roy on the other hand is the other extreme and seems at pains to avoid criticising anyone. Sam got caught making a joke that was widespread on these forums and was not intended to be made public. I'm not condoning it, but it seems the typical nonsense that the press try to stir up. Fortunately, Roy dealt with it in a mature and reasoned way (can you imagine Mourinho or Conte doing the same?) Personally I have a feeling when Roy leaves Palace it will be with a smile on his face, but I'm not so sure the same will be the case for Sam at Everton.

"I don't think anything's cruel. If you're so sensitive these days that you see cruelty everywhere, then unfortunately every time a comedian comes on the television you're going to accuse him of cruelty because that's the type of humour the English people enjoy. "I suppose I was aware of it, but nothing like to the extent of the first newspaper headline or Allardyce's recent impersonation." It seems Roy understands English humour. Allardyce clearly being insulting. Just to clarify I've never used the W word but I defo wouldn't vilify anyone on here who clearly uses it as affect ion.

It seems Roy understands English humour. Roy has stated that Sam's mickey taking has soured their relationship as a result so what is it that you are not getting?

Sorry I haven't been keeping up. Please would someone briefly explain what has happened to prompt this thread, so I can decide whether I'm outraged by it or not?
