Is it my imagination or does nobody chant Eeeegles anymore? There was a time when that was our one chant. If we won a throw in, it was "Eagles! A corner was celebrated with a slightly longer "Eeeagles"

Hardly ever these days! At away games, if there was no vocal support from Palace fans at all - no songs, nothing, you could always get a dozen or so to join in with 3 or 4 "eagles!"

A few years ago I was in Hungary and our Hungarian friends took us to a countryside spot overlooking a valley. There was a rock, where, if you shouted loudly enough, a superb echo over the valley could be achieved. I gave a roaring "Eagles!" and it echoed wonderfully over the area. A one word chant can have great impact in a stadium too.

Happens sometimes at HT at Selhurst when the players walk off after a good display, especially vs a big club.

I was thinking the same, in fact I posted something to this effect, nicknames fade over time and just become a sort of sub-heading to the club badge, never hear Norwich fans chanting canaries, Wednesday Owls, Leeds Peacocks or Newcastle or Notts County magpies, or Bristol City Robins, mind you they never did in the first place so I'm posting rubbish again.

Still get it in the Arthur before a corner but your right it seems to be in decline. A friend of mine who supports Millwall quite often greets me with "cheeeeeese rolls" which was their attempt at humour back in day.

2-0 v Preston (with Mark Lawrenson and Mick Robinson playing for them) back in '76 under Big Mal, hadn't won at home for four months, Fedoras, cup runs etc, 23,000 at home singing Eagles to Amazing Grace, it was as you say les bolleaux de chien.

Not much chance in those lower leagues to sing 2-0 to Amazing Grace then.
