Delighted for Wayne to be named in this - see attached. His hard work has paid off, although some might say what does Garth Crooks know about football.
Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978 |

Garth Crooks, no idea why he is still employed by the BBC?

He did play well this week, the one on on save was great but you can hear the gasps and groans when he's required to do something crucial. The oddest one was some complaining he didn't come charging off his line at the Holmesdale end to pick a ball up at the LB corner of the area with our player about to shield the ball. That was one of Speroni's weaknesses. I remember the Coventry one at the same position and Clinton observing it go in at the far post. Hopefully when Mama Sakho is back we'll be tighter.

To be honest, i think we've actually looked tighter at the back since he's been out. Tomkins has really impressed and Kelly has seriously stepped up. Wayne had a great game Saturday, couple of decent saves and picked most things out the air against a couple of big strikers, which must do his confidence the world of good!

Agree with this - Tomkins leading by example and Kelly close behind. Wayne’s not perfect but seems to have grown in confidence as rest of defence and all feeding off each other. No disrespect to missing teammates but I worry far less that there’ll be a suicide moment with these guys (touch wood!).
I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble. |

Well done Wayne well deserved. I really can't understand why some fans, eg the two guys I sit next to at home games, are so down on him. He is not brilliant and makes the occasional mistake but is a solid Premier League keeper in my book.

The goalkeeping display at Anfield yesterday afternoon shows that all keepers are fallible. If Wayne was any better he wouldn't be with us, sorry, but that is just the way it is.

Just had a look at the TOTW, and how the f**k does Evans get in?

I'm just happy that the stupid Wayne Hennessey thread is now dead and buried after being locked. Like all keepers he will make a mistake again but if he does I hope he won't be crucified on here, after all Jules wasn't after the Everton game.
