Got the little b'stards coming through our back garden. Food sources are all gone (bird feeder and BBQ)but the b'stards still use our garden as a route to get from their nest in neighbours garden to skanky neighbour on the other side of us. Got an adult rat with poison this morning, which had only been dead for a day or so.(you have to be really careful with poison, that you don't put other life at risk) Neighbours cat killed two young ones last week. That means at least one adult is unaccounted for. It could have died somewhere else, as poison has been taken from the bait points. Have stopped hearing noises from outside in the early hours. I'm hoping we got them all. I now have to make the garden perimeter as secure as possible, and here comes the crux issue. I would favour electrified barbed wire and concrete, but the missus is going to want something more aesthetically pleasing, like Sicilian stone, or Roman marble My neighbour, who has the rats nest in his garden, is a fcking gamekeeper. You'd think he could sort something. Countrysiders,..."putting the 'cvnt' in countryside" I disengage, I turn the page.

There is only one type that works, a big beggar like a mouse trap on steroids. A Fenn Mark 4, only use genuine ones. Probably stick them in a poly pipe or similar to stop other animals getting at them. If you get a squirrel or two it's an added bonus IMO.

Why not use traps. I believe the professionals do. There is only one type that works, a big beggar like a mouse trap on steroids. A Fenn Mark 4, only use genuine ones. Probably stick them in a poly pipe or similar to stop other animals getting at them. If you get a squirrel or two it's an added bonus IMO.

By law they must be covered though. The simplest way is to build a wooden tunnel (side walls and a roof) using old timber eg floorboards - a simple hammer and nails job. One up from that would be a wooden ‘tube’ - a floor, two side wall and a hinged or removable lid. Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

And there aren't any solutions more aesthetically pleasing. Well, with certain reservations (mine s***es in the shower). You might even be lucky and get one that's ITK on football stuff.

The adult rat we found was the size of a guinea pig, with a tail around the same length again. I have a wire-haired fox terrier, but don't want her to get bitten by a rat, because rats carry disease, plus there is now poison in the environment, which could impact rat predators. I don't count cats as predators as such, because they kill for fun, not for food. Rat V Cat My dad and I had a telephone discussion last night over whether a rat or cat would win in a fight. I thought cats always win, as there is recent evidence to support this from our neighbours cat. My Dad thought that if a Rat lunged for a Cat's jugular, it has plenty of teeth to do the job. Teeth which can go through even concrete over time. I thought that only happened in James Herbert books, and cats were more intelligent, agile, too big and weaponised to be victorious every time. thoughts anyone ? I disengage, I turn the page.

Nearly got the ends of my fingers taken off when I moved and re-set them My rats seem keen on the poison. What about an electric trap? Runs of batteries and you would juat need to make sure it is kept dry and checked regularly I used a humane trap. They are annoying as you have to release the b******s somewhere which is a schlep
