My personal opinion is that he is up there with a few of the Palace legends right now.....Possibly top.
The fact he says he isn't going anywhere makes him more of a star...
Others in my book ... Kenny Sansom, So goood for us..The class of Lombardo ... Ian Wright (His mums place is all palace memorabilia and she wont have anything in her place)..
Ian Wrights mum.....
Brighty Solid... Billy Gilbert (I just like nutters)....
AJ... A good striker plus three against the weed..
John Jackson.. Probably the best keeper to never play England.....
Probably loads more but Wilf is definitely up there to date,,,
Who else..?

On the basis of the following variables:
1. Skill and entertainment;
2. Impact on outcomes;
3. Loyalty to the club/affinity with the fans;
I now rate Wilf as the best we’ve produced.

In fact I’d stick my neck out and say he’s the best player to ever wear the claret/red and blue.

Obviously it partly depends on the length of time you have followed Palace as to who you include in your list of legends.

Some older folk might include the likes of Johnny Byrne (just a bit before my time - just).

I often think the best time to decide where a player sits in the list of legends (and it is always going to be subjective) is after the player has departed the club when you have the whole picture.

But that's a bit boring - and yes, Wilf I am sure will sit in everyone's top 5 and for many right at the top. We have been very lucky and privileged to have been able to watch him develop into the player he now is.

For me he's number 1, been with us since he was 9 I think, loves our club, would never see him kiss another clubs badge like wrighty. You can genuinely see his palace through and through.

Sansom, Wright and lombardo are at this stage better players and I know the older fans will say Jonny Byrne is our greatest player but I'm too young to judge.

With a bit of luck and the right club and manager he could go on to be more successful than any player to have played for palace.

Let's also not forget the likes of

Steve Kember

Nigel Martin, and

(for all the wrong reasons)

Trevor Aylott

but, yes, Wilf has to be up there with the best of them!

I agree, he could well be for us what Le Tiss was for Southampton. The centre of everything the club does for years.

He fits the mould of what everyone would say they want and like most about a Palace player - local kid, through the academy, a bit of a maverick, extremely skilful, no ego, works hard, plays with a smile on his face and genuinely feels every result like a fan does

I kinda wanted somebody else to say it first... So thanks mate... The man is a legend...
Manure really messed up with him...
Had Fergie been in charge the season after Wilf signed
who knows what may have happened...?
And England have probably missed the man that could (possibly) helped them win the world cup...I honestly believe that....
