I mean not just suggestions on this site, but actually considered?

Who do we know are monitored, coming from the mouth of people at the club or even by newspapers (cause there ain't smoke without fire)? There are a lot of suggestions of Walcott or Welbeck on this site, but I haven't seen anyone at the club hint anything about this.

The strikers who Palace has been kinked to since the summer:

RICHMOND BOAKYE- doing great at Red Star Belgrade, extremely cheap for his quality coming from a club that is not nearly as rich as PL teams

OUMAR NIASSE- appeared to be a last minute signing in the summer, but stayed put. Had a very good run at Everton, but the new manager doesn't seem to rate him much. The young Calvert-Lewin is the starter up front, they even got Cenk Tosun. One of Niasse or Sandro Ramirez will leave in the winter, maybe even both. Forgive him for the dive?

SHANE LONG- there was an article saying he's monitored. Is expected to leave Southampton after a lot of games without scoring. He used to be really fast and has still been a constant assist provider for the other strikers.

LUCIANO VIETTO- leaving Atletico this winter, hasn't scored a goal there. Seems too young and expensive for what he brings to the table.

KHOUMA BABACAR- behind Simeone's son at Fiorentina. Has sone really well coming on as a substitute.

GUIDO CARRILLO- has done well as a substitute in Monaco.

MATTIA DESTRO- this one seems to be past his prime, I don't really understand the rumours.

KARL TOKO EKAMBI- had a good autumn at a low level French club, but isn't a certainty in the ling run.

SLIMANI- wanted by a lot of clubs, including his former team Sporting and his former manager, Marco Silva, Leicester wants to recoup much of the 30 million they paid.

DIAFRA SAKHO- has never been a great striker. Was average in the French second division, got a few good games in the PL. He seems to be off to China this winter.

BENIK AFOBE- Seems to be staying put after Defoe's injury. A lot of people on this site don't rate him much, but I think he's very good (for his age, not comparable to the PL greats)

GARY HOOPER-Probably the best striker in The Championship. A record smasher at Celtic, he had bad luck coming to the PL in a poor team like Norwich, which got relegated. He is doing constantly well season after season at Sheffield. Too bad his mates aren't helping him. The team is mediocre this season, with no chance of promotion, they may be willing to let Hooper go.

FLORIN ANDONE- Deportivo asked for around 30 million in the summer. A lot of English clubs were interested, but none paid that much. He's a beast in gameplay, although he's not that big a person. But he has heart and personality. Cpnstantly harrasses defenders. Good record of goals and assists in La Liga too. Has had a falling out with the management this autumn, They're willing to let him go for arround 10-15 million. Brighton has already said they'll pay.

Frankly, this is the guy I'd take out of this bunch. Him or Richmond Boakye (cause that guy is so cheap that he's worth a try!!)

Notice I haven't said anything about Rickie Lambert and Carlton Cole. For obvious reasons. They were good in their time, they're past 35 now.

That's a good shout and a decent list of possible strikers. Some usual suspects in there although we have a new manager so the likes of Niasse etc. may not happen now. I suspect we will go for a striker who has already played in the PL. However I'm hoping we can get 2 strikers, perhaps an international punt as well.

Well, he did sign Shane Long of the above list in the summer of 2012.
Regarding English strikers, he signed Andy Carroll (oh, brother) in 2011. He may want to tempt players he used in the national team like Welbeck, Walcott or Sturridge. He called up Rickie Lambert for the World Cup. I hope he doesn't offer him a contract now.

Can't help thinking that, given where we are in the league and the scope for nurturing up-and-coming talent through Hodgson and company, we need to strive to poach the best from The Championship.

How about berahino? Pacey just what we need. Let’s be honest he is a good player who f***ed up with this spurs thing

Because of his bad spell now with stoke we may also get him for a lot cheaper than we think

The pacey striker we need
Him or Shane long

Andone is a good shout depending on the fee. Have we actually been linked with him? Not that it matters as most rumours are bulls***!
Shane long would be decent, he runs teams ragged and great pace!

I worry that now Connor whickham is a few weeks away from returning parish might have a no harm no foul attitude and say well we have an extra striker that we never had up until January so let’s not bother signing a striker and spend the money elsewhere , I hope this isn’t the case but I like hundreds of thousands of others lived through the summer transfer window and we all know how god awful that was

Won't happen . It is the biggest glaring need in terms of squad build/ development. Given Wickham's form to date, there is also a high probability of him getting injured again soon. In short, he has more chance forging a career working for either Casualty or Holby City than appearing for Palace on a regular basis.

SP on Hol Radio months ago admitted himself that it was a mistake not to get at least 1 striker over the line in the summer, altho he did seem to feel letting Campbell go was a mistake. As we are no better off in that dept as we haven't found a decent free agent nor a midfielder who can find the net altho Sako has shone a little I would be amazed that we did not try to strengthen in front of goal this window.

Great call on Berahino who can play wide or off Benteke.

I am certain that Roy could get him firing again and can see him playing alongside Wilf, Tekkers and Andros.

Could put in a cheeky bid as he is only a bit part player at Stoke and Hughes may be looking to offload someone to make changes in Jan.

His wages are reportedly 70k per week and he signed a 5.5 year deal 12 months ago for 12MIL Transfer Fee rising to 15MIL - if we could get him for 12-15MIL in the current market given his recent poor form / lack of playing time he could turn out to be a steal if Roy can change his attitude.
