I am loving this new tactic to ban divers after the fact. Moyes is missing the point I think with this quote here from the post match re Lanzini: "The referee was 10 yards from the ball with nothing blocking his vision," said West Ham manager David Moyes. "It is clear to see the defender makes an attempt to go for the ball and doesn't get it. "From my point of view, they are going against the referee, whoever the panel were." When you review an LBW in cricket, its not because you want to "go against the umpire" its because umpires and refs are human beings that make mistakes, and its good to correct those mistakes. For years there has been no way to hold these little cheats accountable, and now we have a way to hurt them by getting them banned. Dont get me wrong, Palace may fall foul of this but tbh if you look at Zaha, I dont think he is a cheater, he is just someone that gets a huge amount of physical challenges, and attention. Honestly if Zaha or any of our players cheat in this way, then ban them. We need to eradicate this cheating and conniving cra*p from the sport.

Although it doesn't help the club who have been awarded a penalty against them, it can only help in getting managers to stamp down the practice of diving. I hope.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Correct, and as we have seen with Niasse and Lanzini, only patently obvious dives are getting the charges brought. The point is that just as in cricket, correcting bad on field calls is only in the interest of the game and should be encouraged and applauded.

Moyes was trying to be very sneaky, to try and influence the appeal, by inferring the ref had a good view and that his decision should be final. I hope they do appeal, I'd rather he missed two league games than one league and a cup game.

Appealed it, got rejected, still a two match ban and it includes tonight's cup game. Deeney however has appealed his red card and lost and had it extended to 4 games.

LBW is different because nobody's trying to cheat or deceive the umpire. It's just a matter of whether the batsman is out or not. In these cases in football Niasse (for example) is shown to have cheated on purpose. Therefore every case should get teviewed, in cricket the aggrieved team has to appeal and can only do so x amount of times. In other news Sutton can't stop banging on about Wilf "diving". Arsehole.

F***ing classic from Bobby Madley tonight. Penalty given for a clear dive in the eighth minute of injury time. HTF there were eight minutes in the first place God only knows. Leicester equalise, extra time. Thank f*** he wasn't reffing us on Saturday.

There is also the argument of whether a batsman should 'Walk' or not if he knows he has edged a catch or whether he should wait for the umpire's decision.

How he kept a straight face when trying to deny that the feller took a dive - even claiming he fell over due to exhaustion FFS - is beyond me. He deserves a ban for ‘contempt’, if not an award for his acting prowess.
