If Everton are keen to acquire Patrick Van Suckholt perhaps we could turn that into Lookman. We could even Everton their million back to secure the deal. Anyone have thoughts? I value Lookman highly for several reasons; he can score in the box, can score from long range, can take defenders on one v one, I feel he can link up well with Zaha & Townsend and most of all he is a young player we can build up for our future and we can offer him a bigger role than what he is getting at Everton.

Good call. Relies on Everton seeing it the same way as you though. Hope they do!

Should go in for Lookman but can't really lose PVA. Started poorly and was one of the few not to improve when Roy came in but is ultimately our best left back. I actually do still think he can offer a lot and it may be a confidence/attitude/fitness issue stopping him playing well. These things can be remedied. What I don't think can be remedied is Schlupp's lack of being able to pass, dribble, tackle or touch a football. He's truly awful so I think if we're getting rid of a left back in January it will be Schlupp not PVA.

Does look like PVA might interest Everton [Link] But if he goes we would need to bring in another LB as there are no signs that Souare will be ready for first team action this season

I remember seeing Lookman when he made his Charlton debut and was impressed with the then teenager. Can play as a winger or striker, has quick feet and runs at defenders.I might be mistaken but I think Everton agreed a deal with Charlton of £11 Mill which included add-ons.Don't think he has played that many games for Everton. To call schlupp awful is harsh. Defensively I see him as a better fit than van aanaholt, but would pick PVA if we are chasing a game or not playing one of the big teams.

Unless you have a ready replacement [not Papa], never sell LBs. Good ones are as rare as hens' teeth. Remember what happened when Papa got injured and all we had was Fryers...

Schlupp has been solid during the recent good run. PVA looked a complete liability earlier in the season. I trust in Roy's judgement.

BS bought PVA I trust his judgement more than Roy. To play him as a right back is ridiculous. Play him on the left side as an attacker if you want a sub. If Roy sells we will be back to the 'can't get a LB' scenario'. Eagles transfer dealings as always daft as a brush. Sell for a pittance and spend millions on people no better.

On 67 mins PVA was brought on to play with Schlupp on the left 3 mins before Mensah got injured at RB. That has worked before and gives us more attacking width whilst able to rush back and defend. Roy brought on Sako for Mensah and we won. The alternative was bringing on another defender in Kelly or moving Jimmy back to RB and losing that passing threat on the edge of the box and odd goal contribution. Perhaps you might like to reconsider what happened and why.
