I"m in two minds about them.

Firstly, I'm massively grateful to them for galvanising support and creating atmosphere.

As a child of the 60s, I remember how quiet Palace fans were.

We were Crystal Placid back then.

When Malcolm Allison came in, and we were rebranded as The Eagles, we at least had a chant. "Eagles" that everyone could get around.

But after that, it became the one stop chant for everything. We won a corner: "Eagles!" Nil Nil at half time: "Eagles!"

It gets a bit boring after a few decades. We were the most emotionally stunted fans in the land.

So I was full of admiration for The HF. The got organised. They create those massive banners. They got that drum and rallied the troops. I am massive grateful to them

And yet, and yet...... what's with the Antifa uniform and starting trouble at away games.

I'm not sure about that one.

Should we go back to the traditional Palace chants from my childhood. "Per-lace" (clap clap claP) and "Bert Head Out! Bert Head out!"

Don't know what games you were at mate, but at home we had the singers in the middle of the homesdale where I stoodthem trouble was, with no cover the sound was lost. Then you had the lot in the Arthur Waite when it got built. Then you had the mob in the White Horse who regularly waded in on the away fans.
In fact, I vaguely recall the singing in the park road stand before
the Arthur. Like one bloke running on with a bottle of champagne at the kick off in div 2 that Cliff Jackson our centre forward had a swig on.
At away games we always out sung the opposition. So HF is nothing new, just more organised. And I agree they do a great job for the club home and away.

I think you're way off the mark ohthisbloodypc, I remember some great atmospheres back in the 70's, 80's and 90's long before the HF were an itch in their dads ball sack. It takes a good team, good games and a decent crowd to make an atmosphere, and I hate to say it but back in the day, even a bit of crowd trouble, which at times there was scuffles every week, could crank up an atmosphere, all be it a bit hostile, especially against the teams we don't like, or those who brought decent support.

Yes the place can be like a morgue at times, but that's how it is, if it's a s*** game, when the teams struggling. Sometimes now it all seems a bit contrived and personally I can do without the constant drone of the drum in the background when I'm bored watching a crap game, but I'm not going to find him and tell him where to shove his drum stick, because he's bound to be bigger than me and a lot younger and he'll probably hurt me

you're, like, totes missing a trick here OTBPC. we can sort this a different way, reviving a different chant from yesteryear.

all the nippers in the WHL end need to learn the ancient classic 'come and join us, come and join us, come and join us over 'ere.' (arms open, hands beckoning)

The away fans won't (the mums in the WHL would be too cross and any way it's not the done thing anymore) so then we can all take to social media about how they bottled it against our youth.

hf can rest easy that our honour is fully protected.

P.S. perhaps the kids could leave via the non-park road exit.

Well i certainly do not remember the library this blokes on about. There was no stand apart from the old boy, so it was possible to walk from one end to the other. But once the Arfer was erected the noise was captured. The noise was incredible, starting with the successful Head years, briefly lulled by a worn out Allison and wayward Vegetables, and almost killed by Mullary. But it was always there and once Coppels red and blue army got stuck in, i5 has become legendary.
Quiet indeed!
