When looking at potential points total - and looking at Roy's past record with saving other promotion threatened clubs - his average seems about 1.2 o3 1.3 points per game. So far he has gained us 9 points in 10 games and should be considered that we have a slightly easier run coming up. So with all this in mind - we are still on track for about 35 or 36 pts. With all the best will in the world, and despite him doing a fabulous job so far, do you think Roy can get us enough points? Seems it might still be very tight come May time. Thoughts? Points predictions? (Apologies if this has been covered but I couldn't see anywhere and thought it might make an interesting discussion - especially from some of you stat knowledgable folk)

Nine points in ten games is below the average stated. Roy is warming up nicely and can be expected to achieve, and better his average. The Team is with him. I look forward to PL football next season. COYP

With a forward line of Wilf, RLC, Andros and Bentekkers we will soon shoot up the league table. We will win the next three games.

Palace are always either flirting with Europe/promotion, or the drop zone. I think Roy has a grip on the situation and we'll be safely mid-table in early New Year. No need to panic

Wonderful positivity so far. (I'm sure only shortlived tho) Thanks guys for your considered posts I always look at our side of players and amazed the position we find out selves in However, if Roy does get us out of the RZ then he really will have proved he is a class manager and deserves all the support we can give him. Looking good so far.

Mid table obscurity for 2 or 3 years would be just wonderful I say, however if we stay in the division there will be chat about a European place next year and if we go down it will be the end of the world. A squeaky bum 16th place I reckon, Roy is the right man for now

No need to panic With Arsenal and City over Christmas and us unable to beat anyone low down unless we snatch it late or get a bit lucky? We were poor v West Ham 1st half, Everton with hangovers from recent times, and Stoke. We may be solid for a point but we're not in title winning form you speak of. The likelihood is we'll be getting around half or just over of the 15 points from the next 5 games. Anything more will make up for Arsenal and City if nowt there. This is going to take a while yet after again seeing how there for the taking Brighton were and we couldn't do that. Roy has constantly got an issue to deal with and the current one is getting Benteke linking up. My solution would be swapping Zaha and Cheek either full game or part game but that's not going to happen with Roy's tactics and point hunting so I don't see about 15+ points over the next 7 games. He'll take the steady route. Edited by Rudi Hedman (01 Dec 2017 9.50am)

Keep doing that and we would be fine. We can only hope and I love your insight - thanks

We can only hope and I love your insight - thanks Well even 15? What we're you 'hoping for, 19-21.' 15 is almost title winning form. I've never seen Roy go for that in this league, I've not seen us do that very often and nowhere near doing it now and I've never seen 'winnable' opponents roll over v us. Quite the opposite. I said half or just over of 15. I'm going for over half but I'm not counting on 15 from 21 and us rocketing up the league as if nothing happened with Roy's conservative tactics. Never gonna happen. I can see 1 team relegated with a month to go - looking like West Ham at the moment - and then 6 or 7 clubs in danger of filling the extra 2 relegation places with 2 weeks to go. We will be one Of those 6-7 teams I expect.
"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one" |
