Mike Dean (49) from The Wirral. His last Palace match was the 0-4 reverse v Man U earlier this season. Last Saturday, he was in the middle for Arsenal v Spurs. Very experienced official.

He made some questionable decisions last week, but he seems to be one of the better officials IMO. I like the way he tries to let the game flow and players tackle each other without constant carding.

I think if you check you’ll find most PL refs are within a 2 hour journey from Stoke- the vast majority come from the Liverpool, Manchester area or from Yorkshire or even the Midlands. I think only two or three come from south of Watford.
