Anyone know anything about this? Heard of a couple of primary schools thinking of using this rather than therapy / counselling for children with emotional and social issues. I get the feeling it's a cheaper option but have also heard it's psuedoscientific quackery that's basically a load of s***e.

Apart from a lot else, you could have done with it as well. Edited by Stirlingsays (18 Oct 2017 5.32pm)

I have been practicing NLP for 18 years in the right hands it’s extremely practical and useful also massive article in last Sunday Times . I wish Roy would engage my friend Prof Steve Peters with Palace he’s a great guy who helped the British Olympic team many times achieve success.

right on Timebob. Sports psychologist in to build on the chelsea result. Remember hearing about the visualisation techniques steve archibald was using at Spurs which helped him channel his aggression.

Did a uni course on NLP as a management tool and not a great fan. Even Wiki says "there is no scientific evidence supporting the claims made by NLP advocates and it has been discredited as a pseudoscience", and Wiki is normally "right on" for this type of thing. I suppose when used to reinforce positive thinking there may be some reward but not messing about with troubled kids.

I looked into NLP twenty years ago and found it the most useful of all the cognitive tools. I used it, along with other study skills, to help me during university exams and it improved my results compared to my A levels. It's no guarantee of anything as what an individual's potential is and how easily they can fulfill it are of course individual realities and judgements. I should imagine that it would be useful in sport and I'd be surprised if it wasn't being used regularly anyway.

I'm a big fan of NLP, have read lots of books on it followed the likes of Tony Robbins and would recommend his videos on YouTube for the kids. There is a slight variation called CBT but I don't know too much about that.

I looked into the idea of becoming an NLP practitioner but wasn't sure which training course was best. I thought maybe Richard Bandler's?

Would it be beneficial for kids whose bad behaviour at school can be attributed to early life trauma, witnessing domestic violence, having addicts / alcoholics as parents, being locked in their room for days on end or neglect?
