Lads, I can understand the negativity after the start we have had, but people giving up and saying we are relegated, really need to look at the table. We are not trying to catch Man utd or Chelsea's points tally. All we need us to have more points than 3 teams come may. Even if we lose against Man u and Chelsea, there is a very strong chance we will still only be chasing 5 points to get out of the relegation zone ( check the fixtures of the teams above us that I have listed) Zaha will be back by then and we will be playing the way Hodgson wants us to play. Beneke's injury could well be a major blessig in disguise. Loftus Cheek has previously played for Chelsea and England as an atttacker in a front 3 and has the skill and power for us to do a job up front. 5 points is absolutely nothing to be chasing after the start we have had and in my humble opinion we will end up staying in this division confortably.

I like this, well said. I cannot believe the way some fans have gone. First season in the Prem I remember being 1-4 down to Fulham . When that 4th goal went in I'd never heard a crowd sing and getting louder like we did it was fantastic. Yet now ive got this guy behind me that sings when we are winning, but Christ does he go on slagging the players off when we aren't. Thank God for the HF otherwise Selhurst would be a morgue.

We could have snatched a draw against liverpool, Southampton and Burnley and all while playing very very badly. Our luck will change soon and we will start taking points. The wind will soon blow out of the sails of Brighton, Huddersfield and they will start sliding back to us. After 20 games none of those teams will be too far ahead of us because they are not capable of winning all their games. We have a lot of time to get out of this mess and I have no doubt we will do it.

We are incredibly unlikely to get anything but a good beating from the next two games. If we then get nothing away at Newcastle, we will have expended 1/4 of the season without getting a point. As I posed on another thread, if you were asked at the beginning of the season whether we could survive while only playing 75% as many games as everyone else, what would you think? At last an optimist!!! Well said, great post.
Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs. |

It is still very possible to stay in this division by only playing 75% games. Very difficult but possible. As long as we have 3 teams near us that are not picking up points, then the gap is not too big and we have every chance of catching them. This time last year Hull had 7 points and Boro had 6 points, And We are definitely in a bad way but we are in with more than a fighting chance of staying up. We will click into gear soon enough and soon we will be creeping up that table.

If we were in the top three I wouldn't be thinking about Champions League qualification. We are in the bottom three and I am not thinking about relegation. Far too early to think on these lines. Edited by Willo (25 Sep 2017 11.57pm)

It's a somber post but I would reckon we see some silver linings with our striker situation and our relegation status. If you can't muster the mineral spirits when that kind of opportunity knocks...well buena suerte! This is the Palace atmosphere I grew up accustom too.. Lets get this done lads!

I've been guilty of this too but to be honest a lot of the negatives come down to us feeling at a low ebb right now. Relegation is very much in the balance and not a certainty. It's early days. If we start getting results its all to play for.
