Unfortunately looks like we need snookers now to stay up even at this early stage of the season I think we best enjoy it if we can as may not be up for a while. While Im gutted and have to lay a majority of the blame over the last 2 seasons on Sir Steve (still our best ever Chairman in my view however and appreciate what hes done for CPFC) but no cover at left back for a whole season last year and no cover up front this year, combined with a lack of legacy at the ground and training ground some strange goings on with various managers from Dougie, Pulis, Big Sam and FDB. We also have such an unbalanced squad on extremely high wages all just a little weird.
Anyway I was chatting with a mate today and has there even been a club we 4 sellable assets that clearly wont play in the championship that can all still commamd serious money. Wilf must be worth 40 million, sakho 20, Benteke 20 and Townsend 10? Thats some serious cash to add to the parachute payments to re-build. Of course Footballs not that simple but what a strange situation and I can only think of Maybe West-Ham the year they went down with Joe Cole etc that maybe had such assets. Even Villa and Newcastle in recent times havent. Anyway I hope we never have to sell and Lapedo turns out to be the new Ian wright and this is all hypothetical but I fear its a unique problem well soon face and do we start to cash in in Jan when other teams are desperate?

If we continue with decision-making of the quality of this Summer just gone we will sink without trace.

Can't think that he will. We were always going to reach our glass ceiling at some point. Doesn't mean that he still won't be very good at getting us back up into the Prem again.

Selling Wilf for 40million, in this current market is like selling the Crown Jewels for a monkey.

Probably 100 grand to spend, our investers will make sure they are not out of pocket.

IF we were to be relegated we wouldn't get top money for any of the current squad. For a start, the quality players will be wanting to leave so we won't get the opportunity for the extended wheeler-dealering that we love to indulge in. Plus other clubs know that relegated teams like us (with minimal income outside of TV money) need to reduce their wages bill, so it becomes a fire sale. Also, at the very least the Americans will sell out, taking their cash with them.

We don't have the infrastructure of a Newcastle, or even a West Ham, to keep it all together for a rapid return. The best that we can hope for is to hover around in the Championship for years without the excitement of possible promotion or relegation. At worst we will fade Charlton-style with the added albatross of a decaying stadium and moribund training facilities.

Sorry, but that's the relegation reality because we've made no permanent improvements to our infrastructure, despite being in our fifth consecutive PL season, and we don't have the sort of owners that will ever weigh in Bloom-style to pull us up by our bootstraps.

People on here need to be a bit more patient and have a little more faith, we are not dead and buried it's 6 games in and we've got the whole season and a transfer window to go yet. We will start scoring, we will pick up points and we will spend in Jan. If we were gunna go down it would have been last year, when zaha gets back in we will look a different team.

And we have to hope that we won't be, because the alternative would be disastrous. We are at an important turning point; if it goes our way, and the RIGHT decisions are made at the top in future, we could well go on to establish ourselves properly in this division and start work properly on our infrastructure.
