I don’t post often on here, but I’ve got to chuck my tuppence in. Our squad was fag-paper thin last season. Many on here thought we were doomed. We were very lucky to escape relegation. We were paid in the region of Ł120million for finishing 14th in the premier league. We released 11 players, not including the last minute loans in the transfer window. We have 6 x players injured including a full back and a striker that have been out since September and November 2016 respectively. We bought a grand total of 2 x players and got loan deals on two more. None of these were strikers. Incidentally we have had 4 x managers since Wickhams injury, 3 x he hasn’t even played for!! Don’t even get me started on the FDB debacle that’s for another post. SP has a lot too answer for imho. What are the board and chairman doing? There are 25,000 people at Palace and however many more worldwide that can see we need a striker that can score goals and a goalkeeper that can catch the ball. Hennessy, Ward, Kelly, Delaney, Puncheon should go. We had a disastrous transfer window, while Parish was dad dancing on his yacht, embarrassing us outside of the game, he was losing the opportunity to sign good quality replacements week after week. Dozens of players were linked with the club and none of them (Mama aside) materialised. Niasse even came to the Club HQ and they couldn’t get the paperwork done. Tosun was happy to come to Palace, but again we couldn’t get the paperwork done. Now Tottenham are interested we’ll stand no chance. SP says we can’t keep spending, whilst trying to run a prem league club on what is rapidly becoming a shoe string budget. We are competing against teams in the same league that think nothing of spending Ł100million on a single player. What does he think is going to happen? Having said all that I do think that there are three or more teams in the league that are worse than we are. I don’t care about the stats and new poor performance records. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool last season, we can beat any team, home or away. And that is all that matters. We will prevail and we will stay in this league. Edited by The_Dumps (18 Sep 2017 10.13pm)

You say you don't post often on here - is that why you couldn't add your tuppence worth to the dozen or so OTHER threads on this subject? FFS

I think you will be waiting quite a while if you think an apology or some sort of back tracking explanation should be coming from SP. I would think he thought he was doing the right thing when he made his more recent decisions and that he is acting to get things back on track now. We don't know what's really going on in the background players and agents will use clubs to get other moves etc. To me whinging about the internal workings of the club is not going to help the only thing we can do to help our current predicament is supporting the team as best we can. Obviously everyone is entitled to support how they feel fit but look at the Arsenal it can be quite destructive.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish hits back - Mirror Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has hit back at Alan Shearer after the Match of the Day pundit slammed the sacking of Frank de Boer. The former England striker criticised the Selhurst Park club for a lack of homework in appointing the ex-Ajax coach this summer. De Boer was fired after 77 days and losing his first four Premier League games and replaced by Roy Hodgson last week. Parish made no reference to the Dutchman's quick-fire sacking in his programme notes before Saturday's defeat to Southampton. But the co-owner has now broken his silence to claim he would have been “negligent” not to take decisive action after making the wrong appointment following Sam Allardyce's shock departure in May. (Parish, when BS left you did sweet FA for months so admit to neglicence)
