With FDB still swinging freshly from the gallows i'm beginning to feel as if Riedewald will be effectively shelved for the remaining of the campaign minus the cup ties.

I wasn't a fan of FDB, he seemed to be humorless pr1ck and full of himself, and while i think most of us agree with his rating of Kelly, Delaney and Ward its fairly obvious that his treatment of them was cruel and unusual (if the reports re to be believed, did anyone else sense that Riedewald was getting favorited by FDB according to the reports of man-mismanagement, may have irked the rest of the squad?)

Shame is I think Riedewald has some real potential and is probably already a better player than Puncheon and half the squad at this rate and pairing him and Luka as holding midfielder could be a shrewd play by Roy or give him a go at Left back (can play there) until Souare and PVA can return to form.

At this point, its fairly reasonable to assume that McArthur and Cabaye are fringe PL players at this stage in their careers, obviously they both have their moments but featuring them on a weekly basis will assure us a relegation fight at the very least.

Thoughts?

I don't see Cabaye as a fringe player, I think it is absolutely crucial we get the best of him every game like we were finally seeing under Sam towards the end of last season.

George Courtney, the World Cup referee, everyone is looking at him. When will he blow....?

It was utterly stupid to spend £8 million on him at this time. He's primarily a centre-back, and we have 7 of them now. His passing ability could come in useful if he's played in his alternative defensive midfield role, but I would rather Cabaye, Luka and RLC as our central midfield 3.

A highly-rated prospect who will hopefully come good for us in the future. Of course, if we're relegated, he'll probably be immediately sold at a loss, having not played 10 games for us.

Cabaye is now 31 and is not the player he was.We are lacking real energy in that midfield engine room with McArthur and Puncheon also in their 30s.

There are plenty of 31 year olds running midfields and with Luka and RLC alongside him, that's what Roy needs to get out of Cabaye. If we can get anywhere near 75% of April's Arsenal performance from Cabaye then he'll be close to MOM every game.

I could envisage Riedewald being a squad / bench player for this season while he beds in to life in the Prem. I to think he has enough quality but will most likely take time to shine.

Can see him in time being a sub for Sakho and possibly also RLC in DM.

But we shall see, for now I expect him (only 20) to earn his place from the bench or in cups.

Don't know if injuries have taken their toll but Cabaye is not the player he was. I appreciate others have a different view than mine and see him in a different light.Opinions, opinions !

He's very rarely been the player I'd hoped for when we signed him but I really think with the right management he can still make a big difference. In fact, I think its crucial to getting us out of trouble.

Cabaye needs to play further forward where he can damage teams with his passing ability. Luka & RLC can do the majority of the donkey work. Riedewald looks like he could turn out to be a decent player, but we sent Inniss out on loan so FDB could buy him; can't see him playing too many games at all under Roy; so expect we will wind up selling him for a loss.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Riedewald move back to Holland in January now that FdB has gone as I don't see him getting a look in under Roy but I hope I'm wrong and he stays as I feel we could have a really decent player on our hands in time.
