We can all see how frustrated he is and a number of fans, with some justification, criticise his lack of movement. He is a big unit whose game has never been that of 'running the channels' like Shane Long etc. And that can make him look lazy. However, he cuts a lonely figure up front because firstly he rarely has anyone anticipating by running off him for the flick on and, in my opinion, more importantly, we play our wide men on the wrong side, which means nobody gets to the byline to put in crosses for him to run on to. Townsend wants to play on the right, but cannot cross with his right so always cuts back in on his left for a shot or a dinked cross which generates no power and Benteke has to meet on the half turn. On the couple of occasions Loftus-Cheeke got to the byline and cut it back we created real chances. Please lets play two wingers on their natural side who will get crosses in that Benteke can power on to. It seems obvious to me!

He clearly and painfully feels he is way above Palace. He's given up on Palace and the only way for it to hit home is for Belgium to drop him and no bids for him in January, THATS HOW TO GET THE BEST OUT OF BENTEKE! Don't believe what you read, players are by nature mercenaries who don't give a $hit, Benteke is leading THAT line ATM.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

That would have given us a couple of points this season.

All he can do is head the ball. Such One-trick ponies are very easy to defend against.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

We need to go back to the one system that, percentage wise, worked best for us; 4-2-3-1, with Zaha (when fit) on the right and Townsend (whatever he may think) on the left. No more fcuking inverted wingers, cutting in and having to run round the ball to cross it. Decent crosses, into the box and Benteke will stick some of them away. One chance and a half chance a game isn't going to cut it. And at the other end Milivojevic and another, in front of the back four. No more arsing about, just keep it simple and the results will come.

Fraser Forster not clearing it when he was on top of him was one and another was the corner which shouldn't have been good enough to beat Loveren at the near post.

Could have, should have, would have, but he didn't and it was; you can't rewrite history to support an argument. Given the right sort of service Benteke will start getting goals again; you know it, I know it, everyone knows it. We don't have any option but to make the best of what we have and, right now, we're not doing that.

He doesn't need to dash around the pitch like Shane Long to put himself about. I want to see all 6 ft 3 of him fully committed to challenges, but when was the last time you saw that? When was the last time you thought a defender might be scared by the prospect of facing Benteke?

Benteke is like lots of centre forwards. Only as good as the service he gets and has fragile confidence. He is slightly less lazy than Gary Lineker but no where near as lucky. We have 3 strikers - a lazy sod, a crock, and a kid. We need to make the best of a bad job We need to build our midfield around Milo as the holding player an Loftus-cheek pushing forward. Mac carries some kind of goal threat so he should start games as should Townsend and Cabaye. Problem is what to do when they both decide to have an off day. Back four with PVA and the Manc lad should get some crosses in giving us options when T&C aren't creating. Central defence is Dann and A.N. Other. We need one of the remaining 8 (!) "defenders" on our books to step forward and stake a claim for the other central defence slot. Let's not discuss the goalkeeping position! We should get a lift when we have Wilf, Paper, and Mama in the team. Meantime bring on the big boys. We get better results against them. Keep the faith! COPY
