Not a great fan of the mirror but hard to argue with any of the article in truth. "Once Parish had appointed De Boer, he should have helped bring in players quickly (as opposed to Mamadou Sakho in the final hours of the transfer window), assured everyone that turning an Allardyce-coached side into Barca II would take time and appreciated that had star players converted golden chances in Palace’s away games they could now be on four points with no need to panic by reverting back to a defensive-minded coach and offering him a million-quid bonus to keep them up." The above is the nail on the head. That's what proper clubs do - don't panic, stick to the game plan and believe in the end goal. 4 games isn't even enough time to devise a park the bus system let alone in attempting to teach players to dictate the pace of a game, understand when to play the final ball, be patient in possession etc. Parish believing in this instant turnaround shows a complete naivety and really begs the question once again - what on earth did they discuss prior to his appointment? I was as shocked as anyone when Steve went for de Boer and he was never my first choice. We should've been all over Marco Silva in my opinion, someone who seemed to organise a struggling defensive side well whilst still being able to play good & measured football. I was always unsure about Frank but whereas probably most people's doubts started to grow, the more I listened to Franks ideas for the club, his focus on the small details and the more I saw the way he conducted himself, the more I was impressed by him and I think given time we could've really achieved something to be proud of at the club. Regardless of anyone's opinions on the style we should be attempting, back 3s etc. the last thing that any club needs is people in charge who interfere tactically and panic at the first sign of trouble, it's a recipe for footballing disaster with any long-term goal. The whole episode has been a shambles from start to finish and it really hasn't reflected well on Parish or Palace as a whole.

All this is fine. However the rumours are that Frank alienated quite a few of the stalwart players such as Wardy, Kelly, Damo and others. If that is true he was a bad apple and then the decisiveness shown by Parish is right. He seems to have learnt from last year when Pardew got a lot more time than he should have.

So there's a rumour he alienated 3 players, weirdly all 3 who are not deemed good enough by the majority of Palace fans. Throwing their toys out of the pram because 3 PL players can't adapt to a system that actually requires a bit of thought and technical skill. Funny how 3 defenders of their ability seem to know so much more than a defender with the career of Franks. "Weirdo" was the word quoted, how completely and utterly pathetic does that sound? Poor millionaire players "awienated", bless em. Maybe the players need to man up a bit. Absolutely amazing times we live in when Martin Kelly can get Frank de Boer the sack. Rumours are also Parish is a control freak and an ego maniac who went above his head in transfer dealings, refused to back him with his targets because he was assigning the majority of the budget to Sakho and then ironically telling him what tactics he should be implementing. The above just goes to show the value of basing assumptions on rumours. All we can do is go by facts - and the fact is unless Frank de Boer tried to shag all of the players wives, Parish really has no excuse for getting rid of him in the period of time that he did, especially after the performance vs Burnley.

Can't we all move on now? What happened is in the past and Roy is our manager now. Don't really see how any of this finger pointing is helpful, what's done is done.

According to the media Hodgson will get a war chest of £40m in January plus anything extra from selling players that he didn't want yet if the rumours are to be believed Parish wouldn't allow de Boer to sell players that he deemed surplus to requirements as they were his favourites. HOL has been full of comments that Damo, Ward and Kelly weren't good enough and should be upgraded but is seems that it was Parish that stopped that from happening. The article is correct and Parish should stick firmly to admin and finance

I thought I read some time back that Parish wanted to stick with signing an English manager, but the Americans had, had enough and wanted to sign a foreign manager. De Boer tried to change things to quickly, but as we all saw in the Burnley game things changed when playing to our strength of a back 4. We all know that depth of squad is our main problem. The three players mentioned apart from the last minute signing off Sakho these players were mainly in the squad if Dann was injured Tomkins or Delaney covered, there is no competiton for places, specially in Ward's place who do we have to cover Ward. Players like Campbell where allowed to leave the club without first covering that position. There are a number of players at the club that are not Premiership quality the likes of Lee, Mutch, etc surely they have a sell on value, depth of squad is the utmost importance.

Facts are a rubbish pre - season which continued into the Premier league where we have no points and no goals and we have played 3 teams that we would hope to get something from.
