Since the goalkeeper got released after the transfer deadline, I found out that every player over the age of 21 needs to be named in the 25 man squad, including wickham whose injured until Jan. This new rule, seems a strange one. When we got promoted Holloway left out the likes of grandin and marange. This probably explains the lack of investment that until we shift a Sako or chungy we were unable to bring further players in. Maybe this is a good thing in the long term, chairman may think twice before handing players 5 year deals and maybe explains why we released the likes of Ledley and Campbell, who were both just running down their deals. Probably similar scenario with Sako and others. Taking a prem wage with no desire to leave and join a championship club.

What's your thoughts on this new rule, good or bad. This probably recruitment has to be the right player and are we gonna have the same problems next summer ?

Probably knocking off £5k per week the loaning club had to contribute to Mutch's wages would've got him out.

Who has to be left out if all over 21 have to be in?

What rule.
Does this apply to the top 6 clubs?
Are you saying every player at a club over the age of 21 has to be named in the 25 man squad or have their contract terminated.
I find that hard to believe.

I am not aware of any new rule regarding over 21s so perhaps you could enlighten me and post a 'Link' if possible.

Yes my question is, what if you have 30 over 21 year olds?

Or if you have to start adhering to rules, who gets left out.

Not sure if it's a new rule, but I noticed that several clubs have not got 25 over 21s.
Man City for example.
But it looks like you have to list all contracted players.
Could explain Chelseas loaning policy as well.
And we have Jonny Williams of our books at the moment.

I think it means that if you have 25 or more players over the age of 21 the whole squad of 25 must be populated and you can't leave any out in order to stick in someone extra later on.

If you have 30 over the age limit you can pick which 25 you wish to include.

Why do you think Chelsea shift so many players on loan. I believe that maybe the case. Hence Palace let Hiram boateng leave for free to Exeter.

Jonny Williams was shoved out on loan on transfer deadline day so that he didn't have to be included.

I assume that long term injured players like Wickham also have to be included even if they are unlikely to play so we should come to an agreement with a League 2 club to take him on loan for six months even if he can't actually play. We could always bung them a few grand for their helpfulness

[Link]

This is a link of the 25 man squad and despite Costa not in favour and remy leaving after deadline day. Remy was named in the squad of 25 man squad. His now left so they have a place available. That's the best I found so far.

Is this rule gonna hinder us in the future, with players like mutch and fringe players with no desire to leave but to accept the prem money. Knowing they will be included in the 25 man squad.

I guess you do what Chelsea do and loan players out until they run down their deals.
