One interesting point in the article and the only thing that hadn't been rehashed from other articles was :-

I do agree with the writer that maximum possession/multiple passing football does produce some sleep-inducing entertainment. I've never really understood why it would be something that any spectator would want. It's quite depressing to know that even the Ajax crowd got bored with it. I'm still hoping that FdB will wake up, smell the coffee and see what he needs to do to keep his job. But I'm equally worried that he's incapable of change.

I think Steinberg has summed the situation up pretty well.

The ' interview process ' with FDB would most surely have covered his footballing philosophies....and how he intended to implement them at Palace.

In which case Steve Parish would have evaluated whether this was the right direction for the club to be taking and indeed if it was feasible. The fact that FDB was hired suggests that SP had bought into what he was bringing to the table.

Just three games in and collective nerves appear to have gone. Ironic when you consider how long we persisted with Alan Pardew's losing football.

So now it seems that FDB will have to change the very approach that got him the job in then first place. Which then begs the question of exactly what he has to offer that will see us arrive at the nirvana of avoiding another relegation battle.

I think FDB's position is already untenable. And in a results business he will carry the can. But he is not exclusively to blame for this situation.

There's some truth in what you're saying, but there was some nonsense from de Boer on his appointment that certainly gave me, and I'm sure others, cause for concern. His pronouncement that our squad was best suited for 3-4-3, when he hadn't had the opportunity to assess it. His promise of "evolution not revolution", before jumping in feet first with a complete change of system that it was clear we didn't have the personnel to play. Relentlessly banging square pegs into round holes in a vain attempt to make his system work rather than playing to the squads strengths.

He could still recover the situation, but I have my doubts that he'd be prepared to make the sort of changes would be needed to get results. Plus it's impossible to know how badly the relationship with the owners has broken down and, with the appointment of Freedman, it could look like a contingency plan is already in place. The whole thing has turned into a bit of mess in just a couple of months.

Barcelona won almost everything going but to be honest the tiki taka passing sideways backwards sideways again bored the s*** out of me, I used to sit there and beg someone just take a shot at goal. I do understand that it did provide winning football and also the lump it forward to a big striker doesn't cut the mustard anymore.
I would like to see a mixture of both played at a higher tempo than we are currently performing at.
