Crystal Palace 'disappointed' training ground plans rejected and 'haven't ruled out' appeal

[Link]

Planning officers recommend acceptance, residents object, council bows to voter pressure. Now you can see why CPP is a non-starter and always will be.

Saw that - full on NIMBYism in effect.

It seems they were all ok with the new houses and the cricket pavilion though.

Apparently it was all down to the cars in the training ground car park being of much higher value than the cars in the driveways of Copers Cope Road!

Now that beckenham place park is no longer a golf course im surprised we haven't offered to take that off of the hands of the council. It's plenty large enough for a state of the art training complex

Some members of the 'back room' team live on the road I believe.

Bayern Munich have announced that they want a first team player every year from their new "FC Bayern Campus"

The new "FC Bayern Campus" near the Allianz Arena stadium, covers 30 hectares, boasts a small stadium plus seven other football pitches, sprint hills, a gym, sports hall, cafeteria and a boarding school which can accommodate 35 youngsters.

Might be a bit difficult to squeeze all this into Copers Cope Road.
Now made almost impossible by the residents backed by the local Councillor.

Your Idea seems like a genuinely sound location. I Wish you good luck in pointing this location to the board, perhaps they really are unaware of this site

thanks.

The decision forms part of the 'Planning Process' and by no means is improving the training ground "dead-in-the water."

Factors, such as 'NIMYism (bl00dy football), neighbours adverse to change, and perhaps influence from effected parties on the Planning Committee may have formed the decision.

The concerns raised by objectors will be looked at in detail, and hopefully addressed in a revised and successful submission.

It's ludicrous isn't it? How can that possibly be a valid objection? The desire to keep voters happy will always take precedence unless it's something the council want to do, then they'll go ahead even if their own 'consultation' exercise indicates massive opposition.

I really hope when we're forced to leave here the grounds go to a developer. Houses will always get the go ahead, especially with the percentage of social housing included.
